Michael Bloomberg on marijuana: Legalizing 'another addictive narcotic' is perhaps 'stupidest thing

...anybody has ever done'!!!!

Hey Mike, you are running as as a douchebag. not a Repiblican!. That statement would help you on the right in the general (which you will never make), but certainly with the huge DRUG CULTURE of the left has effectively just ended your BILLION dollar campaign!

Former New York City Mayor—and potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidate—Michael Bloomberg called efforts to legalize marijuana "perhaps the stupidest thing anybody has ever done."

Speaking at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, on Tuesday, Bloomberg said on the subject, according to WBNG-TV:

"We have a different kind of problem in America, for example. Last year, in 2017, 72,000 Americans [overdosed] on drugs. In 2018, more people than that are OD-ing on drugs, have OD'd on drugs. And today, incidentally, we are trying to legalize another addictive narcotic, which is perhaps the stupidest thing anybody has ever done. We've got to fight that, and that's another thing that Bloomberg Philanthropies will work on it in public health."

Does this really surprise you coming from a guy that made a law on the size of soft drinks places could sell...
Why yes it does!... One would think as he runs LEFT that drug legalization would naturally play an affirmative reaction from a guy who should know what the people he is trying to persuade actually think about issues. But then again, he is in his own little world where reality to his surroundings are of minor use to a man surrounded by people that cater to his every desire....HE was never a man, like Trump that understood what was truly happening!

You ask most Democrats and they will tell you he is just a moderate Republican running as a Democrat to beat Bernie to avoid paying more taxes, and to beat Donald Trump. There's nothing left about him.

Im out but Thanks for the reminder
Monday things to do
Pick up 1/2 ounce of purple
1/2 ounce of whatever else he got

Republicans are douchebags too. No difference.

The war on drugs is yet another scam by government. Legalize all drugs. Only answer.

Tulsi’s right. Little asshole Mikey is wrong.

Tulsi Gabbard Endorses Legalizing Drugs
“The costs and the consequence to this failed war on drugs is so vast and far reaching, socially and fiscally, that if we take these necessary steps, we'll be able to solve a lot of other problems that we're dealing with in this country,” she said.

I'll give Trump props if he legalizes it

Trump can't legalize it. Only Congress can. It's listed as a Schedule I narcotic on the Controlled Substances Act.

Even if Congress removes it from the CSA, it's still up to the states to determine if it's criminalized under state law, per the 10th Amendment.

My state doesn't care what yours does about it. I'll raise a beer to Trump if corrects the fed gubmint's mistake. I doubt he will, but the beer is waiting.

The feds have all but stopped enforcing the CSA with regard to pot growing, as long as the state has approved it for medicinal use, and the grower is licensed by the state. That was the issue in Raich (DEA busting a grower licensed by the state of California to grow under Cali Compassionate Use Act). That is a footnote in history now. Numerous states have either decriminalized it or passed medical marijuana laws (including my state of Florida).

As for the CSA, all Trump could do is recommend that Congress remove pot, but it would be a rather meaningless series of actions since it's already left to the states now -- the presence on the CSA is a dormant detail that is not being enforced.

Just wondering if you are a Dem. Or Rep. Just a point of fact!

Is that a serious question? I am most certainly not a Dem, as I have a functioning brain (no offense intended to my Dem friends on here, assuming they actually picked up on the slight).
Quite serious, as having 3 friends die from drugs. All starting from smoking weed as far back as high school in the late 50's, has given me a different perspective on that shit.... have yet to have one die from drinking, which was also prevalent back then until today....perhaps I am just lucky!

did you three friends that died also drink alcohol back in the late 50s?

Not to worry, he will have the troops out on the streets stopping random people searching them for the evil weed.

Of course, but NONE went on to dying from overdoses of beer or Scotch.......next dumb question, please!

Weed not doing it anymore, goes to something that will....you should try it and let us know if it kills you!

Booze not doing it anymore, goes to something that kills you. The problem is not the substance, it is the person.

I smoked weed in my younger, pre-Marine Corps days. Never caused any problems.

It sure wont help bloombergs campaign

I disagree with him on almost everything except the pot question and will never vote for him

Pot smokers otoh may agree with bloomberg on every issue except legalizing drugs

but for many of them dope is the most important issue and they will never vote for bloomberg either

Which itself is a total travesty.

100% agreed. The issue emphasized in Raich to support Congress giving it the Sched I listing (i.e., no medicinal purpose) was that it is impossible to standardize the level of THC in the plant. Hence, the later pharmaceutical version called dronabinol (brand name "Marinol") which is THC that comes in a pill. That said, my dad was prescribed that drug with his cancer treatment and absolutely hated it.

My grandson took Marinol to increase his appetite after chemo and it helped him gain back a great deal of the weight he lost fighting leukemia. It works! I'm sorry that it did not work for your Dad.

That's what happens when your education consists of "Reefer Madness"

Mikey is the scariest candidate ever.

I'd vote for Saddam, Mao, and Stalin over Mikey....

Democrats in power have supported the WOD for decades. Clinton put more pot smokers behind bars than his predecessors did. We could be raking in tax dollars but instead we're spending more on prisons to house our fellow citizens for pot related charges.

And you call stoners stupid!

He didn't like it because it left him feeling stupified and drooling. I was my dad's nutritionist when he was undergoing treatment for stage-4 pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately he did not survive the disease, but he remained a healthy 190 lbs throughout his chemo up to the time of his passing. The most important nutrients for retaining LBM are protein, and on a more nuanced level for those suffering from wasting illnesses, the BCAAs glutamine and isoleucine. Also, research has shown that the loss of appetite secondary to chemo is due to taurine deficiency which affects the taste of food.

The best way to consume sufficient calories with the requisite nutrient and macro-nutrient content is to drink it (a lesson I personally learned from Lou Ferrigno). I had my dad on a diet of 4 shakes a day, totaling almost 3,000 calories and 150 grams of protein (half of which was slow digestion casein). He was a lean, mean fighting machine all the way to the end. He and my mom both agreed he wouldn't have survived 3 months without the shakes. He beat the odds on the time and looked good to the end. He and I were at the gym working out a week before his passing.

and so did Mikey's current hero, the cowardly closeted compromised Cocksucker in Chief....

Dickinson: Obama's War on Pot

"Back when he was running for president in 2008, Barack Obama insisted that medical marijuana was an issue best left to state and local governments. “I’m not going to be using Justice Department resources to try to circumvent state laws on this issue,” he vowed, promising an end to the Bush administration’s high-profile raids on providers of medical pot, which is legal in 16 states and the District of Columbia.

But over the past year, the Obama administration has quietly unleashed a multiagency crackdown on medical cannabis that goes far beyond anything undertaken by George W. Bush. The feds are busting growers who operate in full compliance with state laws, vowing to seize the property of anyone who dares to even rent to legal pot dispensaries, and threatening to imprison state employees responsible for regulating medical marijuana. With more than 100 raids on pot dispensaries during his first three years, Obama is now on pace to exceed Bush’s record for medical-marijuana busts. “There’s no question that Obama’s the worst president on medical marijuana,” says Rob Kampia, executive director of the Marijuana Policy Project. “He’s gone from first to worst.”

Leftists like Mikey and the Cocksucker want to CONTROL and PUNISH those who do not support them, and use "pot" to do that....
