Michigan joins a handful of other red states that have signed onto this key piece of Obamacare, which grants Medicaid eligibility to people with incomes up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level. Arizona and North Dakota are two other uniformly Republican states that agreed to the expansion; New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie also endorsed an expansion proposal from his Democratic-controlled state legislature.

As TPM reported last week, several key red states — of which Michigan was one — are still debating the Medicaid expansion. Proposals in Ohio and Virginia are very much alive and could be approved before Jan. 1, 2014, when the expansion goes into effect. There is a substantial impetus for those states to get expansion passed as soon as possible: the ACA requires the federal government to cover 100 percent of the costs from 2014 to 2016.

But because more than 20 Republican-controlled states rejected the expansion, made optional by the U.S. Supreme Court in its Obamacare ruling, up to three million fewer people are expected to be covered under the law, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Don't be ridiculous, how could I possibly be a shill for ACA, ACA isn't even close to being the health care bill I wanted but-----but "even the longest and most difficult ventures have a starting point" ~ Laozi

But you need to catch up your party is leaving you behind...

Why Rebublicans Are Starting to Love Health Reform

The Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, is starting to take effect. And here’s a shocker. While the overall legislation is wildly unpopular among Republicans—90 percent disapproved, according to a June poll—individual components seem to be catching on like wildfire among the GOP crowd.

<snip>

It almost seems as if much of the political toxin could be removed from the debate if Republicans could somehow be kept ignorant about the party affiliation of the president who first proposed the plan.

To this point, there was a great anecdote in a recent Washington Post article about efforts to pitch state-level exchange programs at the Kentucky State Fair:

“A middle-aged man in a red golf shirt shuffles up to a small folding table with gold trim, in a booth adorned with a flotilla of helium balloons, where government workers at the Kentucky State Fair are hawking the virtues of Kynect, the state’s health benefit exchange established by Obamacare. The man is impressed. “This beats Obamacare I hope,” he mutters to one of the workers.”

The person running the booth didn’t have the heart to tell the guy that the program he seems to like is Obamacare.

that's almost as funny as...

Romney started Obamacare (Romneycare) because people using the emergency room as their primary health care were bankrupting the state. Even though Republicans prefer "let him die", the law doesn't allow it. Unless you get more Republican into office where they really can push the "let him die" agenda.

Why wouldn't law makers get behind ObamaCare? Its good for our country on almost every level.

Oh yeah. That's right. They're pubs so, being good for the people means its anti-R.

Okay, so its an anomaly. sometimes, in nature, that happens. You know, like homosexuality.

Right wingers will scream it's not true and call you endless names. But ask for a single good thing Republicans have done for the country in the last 20 years and they either grow strangely quiet or scream even louder. Because even they, with all the lies and damage they have caused, know the truth. They just don't want to face it.
