Move federal workers to Detroit

I have started the following Whitehouse.gov petition: wh (dot) gov/lC8BH

Moving some of the 2.7 million federal workers to Detroit would help revitalize and combat blight within the city. Office space and cost of living in Detroit are significantly lower than in the East or West coast where the majority of federal workers currently reside.

This proposal would likely require initial investments in worker incentives and public services to make it viable, however it offers the city of Detroit the opportunity for long-term stability, in contrast to the federal government's alternatives like a large-scale bailout.

Original idea credited to "Six crazy ideas for saving Detroit," by Lydia DePillis, Timothy B. Lee, and Dylan Matthews.

Sounds like a winner. They would be paid less because costs are less. The U.S. Senate and Congress should maybe do the same thing. Plenty of vacant office space and meeting rooms for them. And of course less pay. They'll miss the luxury, the gyms, cafeterias etc. but so what?
