The students targeted were Muslims as well. This has been going on for a while now and the militants often target schools as a means of targeting government facilities and the centralized education sector. Students in schools often work with police to reveal the identity of militant persons in the area. After being targeted so much, some of the larger student bodies have put together protection militias to fight off would be attacks as well, it is a pretty big mess that lends itself to a small arms race and continued violence.

This strikes me as a pretty disgusting comment as it ignores the plight of the victims here who are themselves Muslims and do not identify with the militants who attack them.
