My brother was the golden boy and he had my mother totally bamboozled as to how he really was.
He robbed my mother blind when she came down with dementia and convinced my mother I was the bad child.
I did everything for her and in the end I got shit on.
Do I hold that against my mother? You bet I do because it was that way from the time I was 10.
It tears me apart everyday that I feel this way about my mother.
The Wife and I saved her ass in the end and my brother never even went to visit her in assisted living which the Wife and I paid for since my brother spent all her money.
I dont hate my mother bless her soul but I'm damn sure disappointed in her.

I had a favorite Uncle like that, very very Left wing but he was much older than me and I respected his life experiences even though I did not agree with his take. I never talked politics ... or I would simply listen to him and nod ... or try find some common ground if he was talking politics. Oh it's not about the money.
It's about my brother robbing an elderly person and especially it being his own mother who has dementia.
That was the final straw. He owes the Wife and I around 20K which we let him slide on because he was my brother.
When he ripped off my mother that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
On top of that when we explained to my mother why he owed us so much money she doubted us and took my brothers side.
We paid for his attorney fees twice when he did some stupid shit with his daughter in the car. He got busted drinking and driving in Big Bend National park after we gave him our stay because the Wife had to go back to Houston for work.
He then wanted me to take the 7 hour trip with him to go to court after we had paid for his and our nieces vacation and his lawyer fees.
So yeah it goes beyond family.
