New material holds twice as much hydrogen by volume as cryogenic liquification

nburg went down. And then there are the automobile fires grossly outnumbering the EV battery fires.
ICE autos grossly outnumber EVs also

And will for the foreseeable future if consumers are given a choice by the greenie fascists

Damn hydrogen flames burn crazy hot! One of the problems with a pure hydrogen flame in the furnaces is the burner tip.
Pretty expensive part....don't want to buy one every 6 months.
Hydrogen ICEs don't have burner tips. Neither do fuel cells.

Hydrogen may yet save the internal combustion solution. It is still a good idea to explore other solutions in order to de-centralize resources.

Too centralizing, too dependent upon a priesthood of engineers, without whom the beast is uncontrollable.

I guess you can make a kilogram at a time with wind or solar and then walk it to a central location. That makes as much sense as any stupid green idea I've heard.

OK, this poster is certainly not trying to convert anyone, nor attack , either. It is only evident that hydrogen is such an excellent energy matrix that it is unavoidably tempting to find ways to avail ourselves of the possibilities. There are many facts that support the idea of continuing to develop what has been learned. This category of social interest, personal transport, will have to go through a fairly thorough re-evaluation compared to what we have had available for the most recent fifty years. We have to be flexible and eclectic, but not necessarily electric.

Why do you feel hydrogen is excellent?

Why do you feel hydrogen is excellent?
"Excellent" meaning to have desirable attributes. In this cas, hydrogen is everywhere and when the energy is reclaimed from it, be it thermal or electrical, any pollution is of an order so miniscule as to be insignificant.
We are aware of all the challenges to bringing this to a consumer level availability.
In the meantime, more prudent choices in personal transportation would help things on many levels.

In this cas, hydrogen is everywhere

But not in a useful form.

when the energy is reclaimed from it

It's not in a useful form with energy we can reclaim from it.
Natural gas, methane, CH4, comes out of the ground with energy we can use.
Why not just use that?

I'm pretty sure no one is driving around town in traffic with a refinery strapped to the back of their Hyundai.

What you're proposing is doing just that ... community the Hindenburg 2.0 right behind the passenger seat.
Imagine having flammable vapors in a container under the car. Terrifying!

Buzzz ... wrong ... where you finding reduced hydrogen? ... all of it in Earth is already fully oxidized ...

We have to ADD ENERGY to get hydrogen gas ... and we won't get all that energy back ... it's a net loss ... building another set of flammable gas pipelines under our cities sounds expensive ...

Hydrogen isn't this powerful, but still, why invite trouble:

Because it's a transportable fuel and the product of its combustion is harmless.

She wants to burn coal to produce hydrogen ... claiming burning coal is harmless I guess ... why not just burn coal and skip the hydrogen part? ...

Oxygen grows on trees, hydrogen doesn't ...
If you play dumb for too long, you might forget to stop. ;)

Where does the energy come from to make hydrogen? ... H2 ... not a thing found on Earth's surface ... we have to make it ... and that will take more energy than returned when we burn it ...

... but you think the Laws of Thermodynamics are dumb ... no stopping that Middle School diploma ...
