Homeschooling in New York will probably increase substantially...
NYC Schools Chancellor to Push 'Progressive Agenda'
Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio selects longtime education adviser Carmen Farina

...
And what does the "most sacred missions in government" involve? According to the new schools chancellor, Carmen Farina, it is pushing a "progressive agenda."
It's such a privilege to be able to come back to a system that has so much work yet to be done, but to be doing it from a stance of a progressive agenda.
One of the first things on the list is to raise taxes on wealthy New Yorkers to fund de Blasio's universal pre-kindergarten program. De Blasio and Farina will flex their anti-charter muscle and go after charter schools, despite their success, and force them to rent classroom space at a whopping $3,000 per student; inevitably shutting most of them down and thus taking away school choice for tens of thousands of families.
Another mission is to de-emphasize testing, much to the delight of the millions of NYC students. To the progressive, testing only shows the inequality amongst students, and as de Blasio said on his election night, inequality is "the defining challenge of our time."
Perhaps this "progressive agenda" will include transgender bathroom choice for kindergartners as is the case for school children in California starting in 2014. Or maybe students can choose to play a sport based on their identifying gender regardless of their birth certificate. Really, the possibilities are endless.
