President Obama is still not scheduled to visit the devastated community of West, Texas, where an explosion at a fertilizer plant five days ago killed 14 – including 11 emergency responders – and wounded approximately 200 people.

Up to 75 homes were damaged, as well as an apartment complex that was decimated.

Obama so far has sent prayers and money to the town, but not himself.

President Obama will attend a memorial in West, Texas, on Thursday, for those killed in the explosion there last week, the press secretary announced today. Obama will be in Texas anyway for a Democratic fundraiser and the opening of President George W. Bush's library.

The most practical step would be to take the people responsible for zoning regulations in Texas and torture them to death on nation-wide television !!

The REAL terrorists are the corrupt Texas politicians and their business cronies!!

United States social policy lags far behind that of the civilized countries. I am disgusted by the lack of proper regulation -- particularly in regard to zoning !!

American cities are a dog's breakfast of higglety-pigglety construction, as contrasted to the neat, sensible division of cities in Europe and Canada into residential, business, industrial districts.

However, as bad and stupid as American zoning is, I am appalled that a fertilizer plant !! (of all things!!!!) was built so close to a residential neighborhood !!!!!!!!!!!

It's hard to believe that some money was not passing under the table when that construction was approved!!!

The political culture of the USA is miserably flawed.
