As U.S. energy independence is at hand, Obama working to kill fracking

Once again placing himself firmly on the side of environmentalists and opposite the oil and gas industry, President Obama on Wednesday rolled out long-awaited regulations to dramatically cut methane emissions over the next decade.

The move, just days before the State of the Union address, gives a clear indication that Mr. Obama wants to cement his legacy on climate change over the final two years of his presidency. Having already targeted power plants, cars and other sources of pollution, the administration is pushing regulations that will carry serious repercussions for the oil and gas sector, one of the greatest economic success stories of the past 10 year

Well he must be doing a terrible job of it because we're leading the world in oil production again.

But wait... Jroc your buddies, Saudi Arabia, have openly admitted to dropping oil prices to stop U.S. oil fracking. And that is by far having the most impact on fracking. Any response to that?

New regulations not currently in place get it? Obama is just getting started. Why is it you people's first impulse to defend Obama? We should be going full bore with fracking on federal land. We should also be giving more tax breaks to companies to counter the Saudi oil barons dumping oil on the market which will help to grow the domestic industry and create more good paying jobs. The Saudis wont keep dumping oil on the market at this price forever

A few things:

You say Obama is just getting started... yet he's on his way out. He's had 6 years to get started.

As for full bore fracking? Fracking companies are hurting badly because Saudi Arabia is using it's monetary reserves to stop U.S. fracking.

You think the Saudi's won't keep dumping oil on the market at this price forever? Are you willing to gamble on that?

absolutely, unsustainable, as I said tax breaks for energy producers will help domestic producers make a profit in the mean time

Obamagas is $1.79 a gallon in Tennessee today.

Whatever he is doing seems to be working out marvelously.

;)
He's doing nothing, I suggest he he keep it that way. New EPA regulations will dramatically hurt the domestic industry which is what Obama wants. However opening up more federal land to fracking would be a good thing. Lots of jobs and keep oil prices low:thup:

Fuck those "tax breaks" you keep proposing. I thought you right wingers were all about the "free markets"?
What the matter, can't the oil companies compete? That is their problem. I didn't see you calling for the oil industry to pay more in Federal taxes when all the oil companies could do is make record profits year after year.

But now your friend big government needs to step in and give MORE tax breaks to an already profitable industry.
Fuck that.

the energy industry is overtaxed and regulated. the corporate tax should be drastically reduced for all business actually. We have the highest in the world. That is a very conservative position genius. You like cheap gas? So do I, lots of jobs too:thup:

This is how stupid you are. It is costing American producers around 80 dollars per barrel to produce oil. It costs the Saudi's around 20 dollars a barrel.

So the American producers need to sell at above 80 to make money.

And you are so fucking stupid you think production costs of 80 dollars is going to keep gasoline prices low.
When the reason prices have dropped is that a barrel of oil is selling below 50.
Get a grip dude. You are not thinking this through.

The Saudis continuing to supply their already cheap oil to a market that is currently oversupplied is the reason gasoline prices are down. American producers will eventually have to cut production until world prices come back up.

Unless you just want the American oil producers to produce oil at a loss?

Already covered post #3

Oh horse shit. Where do you get this crap? Look at the profits posted by oil companies over just the last 10 years and then cry me a river of oil about all that profit.

And how could that have happened when those oil companies are just so over taxed and over regulated.

Dude, are you a paid shill for the oil companies?

Lets keep jobs here... World wide profits are a good thing though, the federal government makes lots of money off of them. cutting taxes and regulation will help smaller companies compete:thup:

We need domestic drilling and fracking more than ever. It's time to cut back on existing regulations and prevent new ones from stifling production. Domestic drilling rigs are already being shut down. Some 9,000 are expected to be laid off by Slumberger. No telling how many industry wide.
