She was put there immediately when the government operational subsidies were cancelled, The NS Savannah was a nuclear powered cargo ship that only operated for a decade at a construction cost of forty seven million dollars. Within reason? I would simply pause new designs until they removed impossible requirements. Let them make GOVT cars like East Germany, ir they know so much.

Lay everybody off. Sell out the Gas line and shut it down. Maybe ALL hybrids only could get close? But on a big SUV or Truck to haul weight?

I watched a Diesel Brothers video yesterday on YouTube. They were comparison testing a Tesla truck against a Ram 3500 pulling trailers carrying Jeep Renegades up a steep eleven mile grade. The Tesla was about ninety seconds faster, but it took forty percent of the battery charge to climb that short grade.

It kept a lot of people employed, kept them off welfare. In that sense, it served the public good. That it might have slowed the survival of the fittest in the more than a century-old car industry is pretty trivial.
