What is truly disturbing is this president's callousness toward the poor. One stroke of the pen could eliminate corn ethanol mandates, end biofuel boondoggles, and block EPA regulation of fossil fuels. As a result, the U.S. economy -- and the global economy with it -- would flourish, creating new wealth that would spread not just among America's people, but among human beings everywhere.

Real reform of this kind would lower food and fuel costs globally, thereby relieving suffering for the world's poor. Obama's proposal to double down on green energy, on the other hand, will drive food and fuel costs even higher. Tens of millions of desperate human beings will die as a result of the president's policies, and billions will suffer the agony of unending hunger. Does the president even care? Not as long as donations keep rolling in.

Obama and Democrats don't care about the poor, unless there is an election cycle. Any other time they stick them in dead end Welfare programs with no possibility of a better life, and throw them under the Bus until they need their vote again. The Ethanol mandate was the one thing I hated about Bush, but keep in mind it was done at a time when we didn't have outrageous unemployment, fuel, and grocery prices. It's absolutely time to end the ethanol lunacy of making fuel out of food. Obama wont end it because liberals don't care if they starve people in third world countries who cannot afford commodities like corn anymore, as long as their agenda keeps moving in the direction they want, what do dead bodies in poor countries matter?

Why yes! If we'd just stop using ethanol and eliminate any regulations on fossil fuels, we could go back to these good ol' days when everybody was fat and happy, right?

After all, who WOULDN'T want to breath leaded fuel exhaust again?

I like where you're going with this OP.....and it goes even further than American poor...

It has a worldwide effect:

1. "When French peasants stormed the Bastille on July 14, 1789, they weren't just revolting against the monarchy's policies. They were also hungry.

From the French Revolution to the Arab Spring, high food prices have been cited as a factor behind mass protest movements. But can food prices actually help predict when social unrest is likely to break out?"

2. "With prices for corn rising sharply, production of ethanol should be stopped and the resources diverted to food before it's too late
The threat of an imminent outbreak of major global social unrest and rioting over high food prices has reached “boiling point”, and ethanol production must be stopped now, a leading expert has warned."

DUDE!!What kind of drugs are you doing? Besides "good" ones? You guys that hate the 47% then love the 47%Plus Size really REALLY crack me up. LMAO. Poor poor people.

Billions suffering agony of unending hunger is propably correct. And great imagery. But Obama didn't cause that and he sure isn't going to be able to fix that by ending ethonal subsidies.

However I do agree with you that ethanol subsidies have run through there usefullness and should be ended.

But the agri business isn't gonna let that happen. It is just like any other price support government programs for commidities. Once in place, it goes on forever.

how is that 'helping' the poor and the middle class......?

Great tradeoff. Continue to subsidize ethanol production, while we starve and can't afford gas for our cars.

Typical leftist nonsense.

one wonders if BO's refusal to address the food shortages is engineered on purpose to produce the 'Arab Spring' riots.....

Um, RW idiots:

1. 98% of corn grown in the US does not "feed the hungry". It is an inedible strain that goes into making processed crap like HFCS and Doritos so that junk food corporations can make billions in profit. That ain't food that's geared toward saving starving people.

2. 20+ ethanol plants have been shuttered due to the drought last year.

Good lord...
