Official State of the Union Thread

El Paso community leaders reacted angrily Tuesday night after President Trump repeated false claims that the city was violent and dangerous before a border wall was built. Trump—apparently acting on bogus information from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton—has made the claim several times in recent weeks, and did so Tuesday night during his State of the Union address.

“The border city of El Paso, Texas, used to have extremely high rates of violent crime—one of the highest in the country, and (was) considered one of our nation’s most dangerous cities. Now, with a powerful barrier in place, El Paso is one of our safest cities,” Trump said. El Paso officials have spent years debunking claims that it’s a dangerous community—former U.S. Representative Beto O’Rourke made El Paso’s safety a focal point of his Senate campaign last year—but on Tuesday night, many of them snapped.

“He lies. @POTUS is once again lying and using the #SOTU address to spread falsehoods about our beloved city of El Paso. Fact is that El Paso has been one of the safest cities in the nation long before the wall was built in 2008. #WallsDontWork,” Representative Veronica Escobar, D-El Paso, said on Twitter.

. So Obama's anemic < 2% is greater the Trump's 4% economy? Democrats can take their list of 6000 "Trump lies" and shove it up their collective ass.

who lied and told you Trump had a "4% economy"?
United States GDP Growth Rate | 2019 | Data | Chart | Calendar | Forecast

one quarter barely above 4% makes it a 4% economy?

When you're arguing over such minute points as "nu huh we've been fighiting in the ME for 17 years not 19 and nu uh , we're a 3.5% GDP growth, not 4% to try to prove a person is lying, you look like a desperate fuck.

we are not at 3.5% you dumb fuck, right now it is about 50/50 on whether the GDP growth for 2018 will even top 3%.

you are the one that is desperate, trying to make your savior in the White House look better than he is. Why do you need to lie about shit just to prop him up?

or do you not know that you are wrong and you just take the party talking points as gospel?

WE 'WILL NEVER BE SOCIALIST'

Trump vows to reject far-left economics and call to become a Socialist Nation in the SotU Speech, as key Socialist Democrats who have hijacked the Democratic party sat watching 'stone-faced'

One of the most powerful moments in the SotU Speech was when the President brought up how the history of Socialism and the current collapse of Socialist Venezuela - once the richest country in South America - reminds us the self-destructive lesson of embracing Socialism, despite how many times oppressive governments and dictators arrogantly declared, in the past 'Yes, but that won't happen to us.'

President Trump vowed that 'tonight' the United States was re-committing itself to liberty, freedom, and democracy on which our Founding Fathers built this nation. He then declared, 'We will NEVER be a Socialist Nation'.

In that moment the chamber erupted with applause and chants of 'USA, USA, USA', as even Democrats rose to their feet clapping...except for the Democratic party's 2 most extreme Socialists - D-Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and D-NY Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer rose to their feet in applause at the President's declaration.

CBS's Poll shows 76% approved of the President's Speech. Even CNN's own poll showed the majority of the country (59%) rated his speech as 'VERY Positive'. (Now we know why Pelosi tried to stop the SotU Speech and did not want the President to speak to the country.)

I have a suggestion for D-Socialist Sanders & D-Socialist Ocasio-Cortez:

If they truly believe that Socialism is the way to go and they have the blueprint for a better Socialism than Venezuela had, one that will succeed where they failed, why don't they go to Venezuela and pitch / implement their ideas. After they turn the country around and succeed they can bring their victorious brand of Socialism back to the United States for us all to embrace......

OH WAIT - that won't work. Venezuela just kicked their failed socialist regime / dictator out of power and turned their back on historically proven failed Socialism. That's why Sanders and Ocasio-Cotez stay here, trying to convince those who have never experienced Socialism and the collapse of a country due to it 1st-hand.

But you have no clue how utterly stupid, obsessed and pathetic this post makes you sound...do you?

I thought not.

I have no interest in watching a cheerleading session with standing ovation after ovation

It reminds me far to much of fascist regimes bootlicking

In fact i quit TV altogether after Barry O's last sotu addy

no thank you. i can always read the transcript on line

that said , if anyone wishes to parse it out here, i'm game

~S~
Did you realy quit TV? Do you incessantly look at your cell phone like the rest of America? If not, I am impressed. I avoid these two things with all vigor. In my opinion those two items are the biggest threat to America. Because of them we are raising lazy idiots with absolutely know knowlege of natural consequences or of the natural world.

Good for you! The MSM has no Qualms about out right lies and misrepresentations to promote the Political Agenda of the Left.:50:
They all fucking lie, every last one right left does not matter. Talk all ya want I wanna see action before I will beleive. About the only people I truely trust on this planet are five friends that have proven through actions of 35 years or better. Those guys do what they say they are going to do. Better believe I am vetting every thing every one else sais.

You can read more if you like:

Mr. Trump said that America is the largest crude oil producer in the world and that production has hit a record high.

This is true.

The United States has been the largest producer of oil and gas in the world since 2013, a trend that began under the Obama administration thanks in large part to advances in shale drilling techniques.

Mr. Trump claimed nearly 5 million people have been lifted off food stamps.

This is exaggerated.

The number of Americans in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program decreased by more than 3.5 million between February 2017 — Mr. Trump’s first full month in office — to September 2018, according to the latest available data. By comparison, the number of people receiving the aid decreased by 5 million from June 2015 to January 2017.

Mr. Trump said that Ralph Northam, the embattled governor of Virginia, said he would execute a baby after it was born.

This is false.

In an interview last month, Governor Northam said that he supported a late-term abortion bill that would loosen restrictions on the procedure, and allow women to consult with a doctor on an abortion up to, but not including, the time of birth.

The governor, a pediatric neurologist, also talked about some of the dangerous medical emergencies that pregnant women could face, such as carrying a nonviable fetus. He said that in such a case, the mother would deliver the infant and then, “the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.” While Mr. Northam was talking about an end-of-life care discussion in the case of a child that would not live, Republicans seized on his remarks as evidence that Mr. Northam supported killing babies after their birth.

Mr. Trump said his administration is holding talks with several groups in Afghanistan, including the Taliban.

This is true.

Mr. Trump said that American forces last month killed one of the leaders of the 2000 bombing of the naval destroyer Cole.

This is true.

Mr. Trump said that American troops have been “fighting in the Middle East for almost 19 years.”

This is false.

American troops deployed to Afghanistan on Oct. 7, 2001, to begin Operation Enduring Freedom — the American military and NATO mission to rid Afghanistan of Al Qaeda. But Afghanistan is not technically considered part of the Middle East — it is in southwest Asia. The United States invaded Iraq, which is in the Middle East, in March 2003 — nearly 16 years ago.

Mr. Trump said that lawmakers in New York cheered the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth.

This is misleading.

On Jan. 22, the 46th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, a Democrat of New York, signed the Reproductive Health Act, which ensures a woman’s right to an abortion in New York if Roe v. Wade were to be overturned. It does not broadly allow abortions until shortly before birth, as Mr. Trump suggested. Instead, it will allow for an abortion after 24 weeks to protect the mother’s health or if the fetus is not viable. Under the prior law, abortions were allowed after 24 weeks only if the woman’s life was in jeopardy.

Lol Obama tried to stop the oil boom. I didn't read after that because of that lie.
Domestic oil production boomed under Obama
Not because he wanted it too. He tried everything he could to stop it. It was done on private land so he couldn't stop it.

And Trump has done nothing to improve it...I wish people would quit giving the government so much damn credit for what the private sector does

Facts are what matter. Trump had none. He spouted lies and more lies.
I didn’t watch it. I never watch the SOTU. The POTUS always lies or misrepresents or embellishes during the speech.

I thought Obama lied more than most. Did Don lie more than O?

I watched it. I watch it just to see the pained faces on Dims faces. It cheers me up.

Anyway, he essentially gave a feel good speech about America regarding its accomplishments and role for keeping America free from all the tyrannical powers like Nazi Germany, and by the way, we need border security, and had an ICE officer stand up and be clapped for because he had caught drug dealers and human traffickers etc. He did not even give much on any facts to argue about and even had the Dims standing up and clapping for such things as more women in Congress than at any other time in US history etc.

The clincher was though, when he talked about Venezuela and how it was oil rich and once the richest country in South American until socialism sunk it's wretched teeth into and destroyed it. Then he said that socialism must never come to the US, even Pelosi and Schumer stood up and clapped.

My jaw hit the ground when they did.

Hilarious.

I'm sure it made your day to see Nancy beside Pence instead of Ryan. :iyfyus.jpg:

Not much difference. Ryan was an anti-Trumper as well. IMO

I honestly think Trump breathed a sigh of relief when Ryan left. After all, you would rather fight the opposing party than create a Civil war within your own.

Going head to head with crazy train Pelosi will then be fodder for the 2020 elections.
Trump pouted for weeks after Republicans lost the House

President Trump is right about El Paso:

In fact, the number of deportable illegal immigrants located by the US Border Patrol plummeted by more than 89 percent over the five-year period during which the controversial new fence was built, according to Homeland Security data I reviewed. When the project first started in 2006, illegal crossings totaled 122,261, but by 2010, when the 131-mile fence was completed from one end of El Paso out into the New Mexico desert, immigrant crossings shrank to just 12,251.

Funny coming from the guy that redistributed 32 billion dollars to the farmers last year. Is that not a Socialist act?

No, that's charity and compassion. Socialism is when you raise the national debt $7 trillion for some hare-brained "New Green Deal."

how about when you raise it 1.48 trillion in a single year in a booming economy and have nothing to show for it?

There is probably lots to show for it, but someone who hates Trump or America will likely not look thoroughly.

If those haters were thorough they would not hate America or Trump.

Tell me, what did we get for that extra 1.48 trillion added to the national debt?

did we spend it fixing infrastructure?

You liberals are always parroting the same $1.48 trillion figure. That's only a projected number that the left claims will add to the debt because of the President's tax reform bill. You people seem to think that taxing people out of existence is the only way for the government to generate revenue, but it's not. President Trump's economy is proving that Keynesian economics doesn't really work.
