oh c'mon! a censure? what exactly will that do? that is not much more than a strong talking to & finger wagging. the house flipped in 2018 because of the possibility of impeachment. if the (D)s had the senate - donny would have been gone long b4 this coup could have gained ground.

impeachment & removal is the only way to go. pence won't invoke the 25th, & a senate trial after jan 20, which i believe the vast majority of americans would stand behind, not only ensures trump can't run for office again ( not that i think he would even try) but he can't be pardoned AND can face some real jail time.

Democrats are the ONLY party with any credibility with mainstream voters. If the election were held next week, half the people who voted for Trump would turn on him for his behaviour since the election. Sedition being generally frowned upon by decent people.

Trump has exposed the Republican party as an anti-democracy, authoritarian and opposed to the Constitution of the United States.

Impeachment isn't a "thinly veiled coup attempt". It's a legal proceeding for removing a corrupt and dangerous President. Wednesday's attack on the capital wasn't even a thinly veiled coup attempt. It was a brazen, and out in the open coup attempt, and it failed. It's leaders should be shot for sedition.

Ignoring an attack on Congress only adds to the fire.

The only way to extinguish the fire is to admit that the 2020 election was fair and unbiased. Not because it will stop the violence, but because it is true.

Congress cannot tolerate an attack on Congress to stop the election process. They cannot stand for members being threatened and intimidated. They must hold Trump accountable.

What exactly did Trump say that incited his supporters to invade the Capitol?

I hope the Democrats follow through with their threat of impeachment, simply because nothing will paint them in a more horrible light than that.

Trump has ten days left in office. While it's doubtful that they could even get a Senate trial done by then, let's pretend they can.

The impeachment will not impede Trump from exercising any Presidential powers. His term in office will be done. All the democrats will accomplish is retribution. Will the money spent for a second impeachment be worth it? What gets accomplished with it?

In a climate where Joe Biden is calling for "unity", this is actually the worst move the democrats can make. It will demonstrate to everyone that Congressional and Senate democrats have no regard and no respect for what the leader of their party wants; the aforementioned unity. It will also put Biden in the position of being forced to condemn the impeachment process or admit that he was lying about the whole unity thing to begin with.

How many millions of dollars will be wasted by democrats, and for what? What will be accomplished through impeachment that won't be accomplished by the simple passage of time?

Trump will never hold national office in this country. Ever. I voted for him twice and, I assure you, I would not vote for him a third time, and I know a lot of former Trump supporters who feel the same.

The best way to go is to simply let him ride out his term, never run for office again (I just can't see that happening, and democrats can still claim that whole "unity" thing.

It's the smart way to go, which is why I think democrats will do something else...

One thing that would go a long way to quell the suspicion surrounding this election, would be if Democrats would agree to investigate, and hold hearings on what happened, for the record in those battleground states, and agree to work with state legislatures in getting control how they proceed forward with future elections....

If that doesn't happen, this shit will only get worse. Because it is clear now how Democrats, and some Republicans conspired to make President Trump a one term President....And American's won't suffer that kind of corruption...

Just like when some seemingly insignificant individual gets killed in some far away land that sparks an internal civil war, you people just made Trump a martyr.....congrats.
