of a ventilator. It is MUCH MUCH more complex a treatment

????? Heroin use CAN damage both the heart and the lungs----but it don't do nuthin' for withdrawal. ECMO is complex and
reserved for SPECIFIC USES

no doubt the patient was determined to have VERY SEVERE
lung damage. My point is that ECMO will not REPLACE
ventilators. It will not be a first-line treatment in covid-10
respiratory distress (IMHO)

Mr Richards was in sever metabolic acidosis due to his drug addiction. He too would be dead today had they simply watched him and gave basic supportive therapy. This is NOT a common therapy for drug addiction withdrawals.

Maybe we need to gather more data on ECMO as an alternative to combat the effects of this virus. It sounded to me like the ventilator wasn't working for him.
