You're confusing a primary residence with a vacation home. You can't be Middle-class and afford the payments. A fixed 15 year loan would cost $4600 / mo. The payments alone would come to $55,000 a year. Property taxes not included.....which would come to another $15,000. The median income in Vermont is $62,000. Your average middle-class residents couldn't afford this property because the costs of taxes, insurance, and the mortgage comes to more than middle-class wages. Never mind utilities, transportation, food, clothing. You could barely qualify for this property if you made $150,000. I don't think a Commie like Bernie is hurting for money right now. He's getting rich off of a populist movement designed to attack people like himself.

A US Senator earns $174,000 per annum.

So Sanders's mortgage is 19 percent of his gross income. That's WELL below the recommended 33 percent mortgage-to-income ratio.
