It was a slap round that he bought from someone and it was over charged.
The slap round is already super powerful without the over charge.
It basically had to much pressure for the .50 Cal to handle.
This is why you dont buy reload ammo from someone you dont know.

It blew off the cap on the back of the barrel,it's a single shot,and the cap blew the lugs off which hit him in the throat.

I know that's like that ..oh damn, I've seen a couple of his. "Watch me shoot this 6 gauge" type of stuff.

I got the T-shirt. It says Just put a thumb in it.
If his dad hadn't been there when it happened he would have likely died.
He jammed his thumb in the hole in his neck where it had nicked his jugular slowing blood loss.
He had to pull his thumb out periodically so he wouldnt pass out.
His dad called the hospital and they met them halfway with the Ambulance.

OP, it's called a "Kaboom" in gun circles.

For whatever reason the weapon could not handle the pressure and it Kaboom-ed.

LOL.....A guy gave me a Kaboomed FN-49. It kaboomed on him, he had it "fixed" and then it Kaboomed on him again....I stripped off what good parts were left then made a floor lamp of it.....Most used gun in the house except for my P-38 wall lamp.

It's crazy powerful when you think about a .357 which will barely make it through 16 inches of ballistic gel.
This thing went through 6.33 feet of the stuff and didnt even slow down.

No .50 cal would have held up to that round.
Cant remember the numbers but the rifle was designed to hold up to any .50 cal round.
The builder is named Mark Serbu and he's made a lot of .50 cals over the years and none of them have exploded up until now.
