Poll: What Happened To All The Arteries

As we all know there were dozens of amputations of lower limbs caused by the explosions during the Boston Marathon. These lower arteries are most commonly used in bypass surgery.

What happened to all the arteries?

A. They were donated to veterans returning home from combat in Afghanistan.
B. They are being sold to the highest bidder.
C. The are being kept in cold storage for Dick Cheney.
D. The were thrown away.

What an odd question but the answer is D. There is no artery bank. It is impractical to use those because of preservation and storage issues. If a person needs an artery for their heart, they get it from themselves. Much safer and way less complicated.

Plus the amputation parts weren't exactly clean - the injured limbs were full of debris from the bombs and dirt from the ground, and however many unsterilised hands of rescuers trying to save them. Totally not viable.
