We control their weapons supply. Without us they'd be relegated to throwing rocks at the Russians.

As to Russia, they will stop when we tell them to or we start supplying Ukraine with F-117s, F-35s and B-1 Bombers and maybe a couple dozen F-15's. That would make Putin's asshole pucker up, betcha.
