Refrigerator upgrade on Air Force One will cost $24 million

I'm willing to bet passenger manifest on AF1 does not have nearly as many people as a commercial 747.

Dump the frozen food and refrigerated stuff for emergency extended supplies. If MRE's are good enough for the troops they are good enough for the big shot elites.

This may be the first time I've ever agreed with you, given the hack you are, but I continue to doubt the veracity of the link.

Researching it I found out it also carries blood supplies, which need refrigeration. This is info that was put out during the Obama admin.

It also designed to be a bunker, in case of need. Also, f-16’s have trouble keeping up with it-

Though the details of the plane's defense capabilities are shrouded in secrecy, Air Force One is a military aircraft with the ability to function as a de facto bunker in the event of a nuclear attack and capable repelling airborne missiles should the plane ever come under attack while flying. The plane also has a special electronic defense system that can jam enemy radar.
....

Air Force One has the ability to fly at a speed of over 600 miles per hour (or 92 percent of the speed of sound) -- so fast that F-16 fighter planes escorting the president’s plane while in flight on September 11 had difficulty keeping up and had to ask the plane’s pilot to slow down. Then-pilot Col. Mark Tillman later recalled that the plane was moving at almost supersonic speed.

I guess it can also feed up to 100 people at once, so 3000 meals doesn’t sound unreasonable in the event of an emergency-

These days you're lucky to get a bag of peanuts on the average commercial flight. But on Air Force One, the president, flying staff and traveling press are served by two kitchen galleys equipped to feed up to 100 people with carefully prepared food fit for a president. If the president doesn't like what's on the menu, staff keep a supply of groceries on hand to prepare whatever he’s craving.

It is also equipped with an emergency room-

Not only does a doctor travel with the president when he flies, but there’s a medical facility on Air Force One that is equipped top act as an operating room in the event of a life-threatening emergency. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy and medical tools, operating table and equipment, and for long trips overseas, also carries an extra reserve of the president’s blood type in a refrigerator in the medical annex.

Trump has nothing to do with it-

Two outdated refrigerators being replaced on Air Force One will reportedly cost about $24 million.

The coolers on the presidential aircraft need to have the capacity to store 3,000 meals onboard, and two out of the five are in need of replacement, according to Defense One.

3K meals? Why? I can see maybe a little over half that, but seriously? 3K?
I would assume it's a contingency plan, should there be a global apocalyptic event, like a nuclear war.

here is what I found-
Air Force One Needs New Refrigerators. They Cost $24 Million
Experts say the reason isn’t price gouging by Boeing, which makes the jets and handles the presidential modifications, but instead the result of bespoke equipment requirements put in place by the White House Military Office and the Air Force.

“It’s not a contractor issue, it is a requirements issue,” said Richard Aboulafia, vice president of analysis at the Teal Group consulting firm. “It’s not getting people rich.”

The new refrigerators aren’t your kitchen Frigidaires, or even a typical jetliner’s cabin-feeding coolboxes. The requirement for Air Force One is the ability to feed passengers and crew for weeks without resupplying. That means storing about 3,000 meals in massive refrigerators and freezers below the passenger cabin. Five “chillers” cool a total of 26 climate-controlled compartments, according to the Air Force.

Nice information, but I am throwing the bullshit flag at the story about the F-16s unable to keep up.

I know airplane parts are expensive but $24 million seems excessive. I'm in the wrong career field. I need to get into airplane sales.

I'm with Trump, except perhaps with #5. Pay if it's done right.

That's the beauty of it

Trump gets to decide if it was done right

Hey, he may have already talked them down, or it could be he hasn’t learned up the price tag yet, being out of the country, ya know.
