Venezuela's Supreme Justice Tribunal on Thursday ratified President Nicolas Maduro's victory in the July 28 presidential election, sealing institutional backing for the ruling party as the disputed contest fades from international headlines.
Since the vote and deadly anti-government protests which followed, Maduro's administration has conducted what the opposition, human rights groups and unions have characterized as a crackdown on dissent.
The actions have included arrests of opposition figures and protesters, an investigation into opposition leaders for allegedly inciting the military to commit crimes, the passage of a law tightening rules on NGOs, and forced resignations of state employees allegedly espousing pro-opposition views.

Hopefully most of the world will continue to refuse to recognize this government as legitimate.

It's like watching the DOJ and FBI tell us what a great job the Biden administration does every day.

Has President Harris sent a delegation there to congratulate him yet?
/----/ Maybe that's where Joe is hiding out.

This is promising...

Four Latin American countries were quick Thursday to voice their disagreement with Venezuela's Supreme Court (TSJ) ratifying incumbent President Nicolás Maduro's alleged win at the July 28 elections despite fraud denunciations by the opposition backed by the Organization of American States (OAS) and a large part of the international community.

Commies are gonna commie.

If you think that's something, just wait until we have our own election in November. :laughing0301:

We need to see what the other left leaning governments in the area do now that their demands that "this go to courts" has been shown as the farce we all knew it would be.

I just read a pretty good article by an American news source saying that American observers down there in Venezuela insist that Maduro did indeed win.

The tallies in possession of the opposition showed a total of 2.75 million votes for Maduro and 6.27 million for his rival, former diplomat Edmundo Gonzalez, Machado said.
The numbers were sharply different to the 5.15 million votes the electoral authority said Maduro had won, compared to 4.45 million for Gonzalez.
Witnesses assigned to observe vote counts have a right to a copy of each voting machine's tally, but the opposition said overnight that some witnesses were blocked from following counts and that at other sites the tallies were not printed.

***same old stuff, just like inthe USA.

But Maduro, whose 2018 re-election is considered fraudulent by the United States and others, said in evening remarks on state television that paid agitators had assaulted electoral agency offices.
"We know how to confront this situation and how to defeat those who are violent," Maduro said.
Jorge Rodriguez, a ruling party lawmaker and Maduro's campaign manager, called for supporters to march in support of the government on Tuesday.
Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino warned against allowing a repeat of the "terrible situations of 2014, 2017 and 2019". Anti-government protesters took to the streets those years and hundreds were killed.
Machado had called on the country's military to uphold the results of the vote. The armed forces have long supported Maduro and there have been no public signs leaders were breaking from the government.

It's starting to look like me opposition in Venezuela is funded by the CIA.... Possible motives include keeping Venezuela's massive hydrocarbon store from China and Russia.
