Capitalism

Now the argument is the fact that despite Obamacare and the Democrats having the White House many of the years after it passed, we still have people faced with stuff like this and ever rising costs.

Neither party actually wants to really address the cost side.
Possibly because Republicans and Democrats serve their donor class at the expense of the vast majority of their voters?

Investment theory of party competition - Wikipedia.

"The Investment theory of party competition is a political theory developed by Thomas Ferguson, Emeritus Professor of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

"The theory focuses on how business elites, not voters, play the leading part in political systems..."

"The central claim of the Investment Theory is that since ordinary citizens cannot afford to acquire the information required to invest in political parties, the political system will be dominated by those who can.

"As a result, the investment theory holds that rather than being seen as simple vote maximizers, political parties are best analyzed as blocs of investors who coalesce to advance candidates representing their interests.[5]

you have a graph which shows how much americans pay not how much they OWE

You are massively failing to prove a damn thing
Do you know many Americans who PAY more than they OWE?

Medical debt contributes significantly to US bankruptcies. By one study conducted in 2014 two-thirds of American bankruptcies involved medical issues due either to cost of care or time lost from work.

You are not providing evidence of your original claim

we were discussing homel;essness not banckrupcties

Not at all

A relationship does not imply they are the same thing
That is true which is why I never made that claim.

Addiction is the number one cause of homelessness in American with debt in all forms, including medical debt, playing a prominent role in maintaining a homeless condition:

Medical Debt Puts Housing Out of Reach for Millions of Consumers | Consumers for Quality Care.

"A survey by the Denver nonprofit Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) found that two-thirds of the homeless Denverites that they serve have medical debt.

"Nearly half of those people say that medical debt has played a role in their current housing situation, and roughly 1 in 6 say that it has played a major role."

A survey is not reliable.

you can get the same results when asking about veterans who are homeless but most of those claims are fraudulent

Addiction illustrates what I first stated which is that homeless people create their own condition

If you can find any unreliable claims in this survey, point them out:

Medical Debt Puts Housing Out of Reach for Millions of Consumers | Consumers for Quality Care

"Of the 100 million Americans with medical debt, about 1 in 5 report that this debt has forced them to change their living situation, according to a 2022 KFF poll.

"This trend is especially concerning as growing evidence indicates that housing is considered one of the best social determinants of health.

"Studies have shown that individuals faced with housing instability have an increased likelihood of experiencing poor health.

"According to Brian Klausner, a Raleigh, North Carolina-based physician, 'there are thousands of sick Americans who are likely homeless — and sick — because of medical debt.'"

Addiction is often a result of homelessness as anyone who's ever experienced the daily struggle for food, shelter, and security knows.

Changing your living situation is not the same as being homeless. That survey is not about people being homeless it is about people who cannot afford a house.

Addiction is unrelated and a result of choice

They laughed at me a few years ago when i posted how capitalism works. It requires growth to work. Greed run capitalism requires big growth.
Prices double every 200 years
Prices double every 100 years
prices double every 50 years
prices double every 25 years
Prices double every 12-13 years--we are here
prices double every 6 years= disaster
prices double every 3 years- the ultra rich become slave masters of 99% on earth. They are rushing us to this.

So does one think capitalism is best for the human race?
Anyone with knowledge of economics would know that Capitalism is the least worst system, and socialism is only fantastic on paper.

Those that complain about Capitalism are the lazy and they want society to pay for them.

Capitalism only works on paper also or someone would actually be using it.

Those that complain about Capitalism are the lazy and they want society to pay for them.

Like the Capitalists that routinely have to be bailed out?

Must always consider the source. The KFF source appears to be very "left" in it's content. Therefore a reader should be concerned of opinions based on bias and that bias can be read in the article due to lack of details or citation.

As Soup point out, this is not a smoking gun.
"This trend is especially concerning as growing evidence indicates that housing is considered one of the best social determinants of health.
Many factors can play into one's own health and a stable living environment can be one of them. But the holistic view point would consider not just the "home", but stable, responsible parents, the avoidance of other health risks in the house like alcohol and tobacco.
"Studies have shown that individuals faced with housing instability have an increased likelihood of experiencing poor health.
This statement is not cited. Is this an opinion of the source/author? If so the logical reader would say this is a very broad brush and is only plausible.
"According to Brian Klausner, a Raleigh, North Carolina-based physician, 'there are thousands of sick Americans who are likely homeless — and sick — because of medical debt.'"
Probably not wrong, but Medical debt is "A" factor, not the "Only" factor. There is a big distinction.
Addiction is often a result of homelessness as anyone who's ever experienced the daily struggle for food, shelter, and security knows.
I'm sure one can lead to other, but also, addiction can lead to homelessness.
Addiction is unrelated and a result of choice
Some due to genetics, are pre-dispositioned for addiction. Yes, it's still a choice for someone to either take the first drink, smoke, shoot up, gamble, watch porn, or feed their eating habit. For some to fight those urges or to not have those urges is a blessing. For others, it's a terrible struggle to fight addiction. Parents must be cognizant of their own past and predispositions and educate their children on the consequences of addiction.

Mental illness and addiction are two primary factors in homelessness.

That survey is about the homeless:

Medical Debt Puts Housing Out of Reach for Millions of Consumers | Consumers for Quality Care

"In communities like Denver, housing prices have skyrocketed in recent years, putting housing out of reach for thousands of residents who now find themselves homeless.

"Nearly half of those people say that medical debt has played a role in their current housing situation, and roughly 1 in 6 say that it has played a major role."
