Capitalism

Centuries ago Adam Smith pointed out in the Wealth Of Nations that capitalism works only in a system/society with moral and ethical foundations.
I'd like to see an example of moral stewardship in the 500 year history of capitalism.
BTW, don't suggest the founding fathers, who preserved slavery.

Perhaps your argument should be taken to the rulers you love in Europe. For they are the ones with more and more control in the world. They are ushering in a communist style ruling class with a capitalism working peasant class. They know that capitalism means production from the ground up. Government employees is an example of lethargic laziness as compared to capitalist employment.

The essence of capitalism is speculation, the essence of speculation is pest. Every speculator will sooner or later reach a level where ignorance, poverty, scarcity, hunger, disease, corruption, catastrophes and wars become profitable to him as collateral for his profits.

Unregulated capitalism vs regulated capitalism Ringo

there is a difference.....allow me the dog eat dog analogy.....

One is where only the big dog wins, the other is when every dog has a shot at the golden biscuit

That's a propaganda line pushed by Marxists.

That's what you hate about capitalism. ANYBODY can become rich through hard effort.

Does every hard worker make a fortune?

Nope. But they all have a opportunity to do so.

Under Marxism you still have a tiny, super wealthy ruling class, but there is NO chance for a hard worker to get ahead.

You morons think you will be part of that small ruling class, but you won't be, because you are lazy and stupid.

Karl Marx's design was to not have any ruling class, but instead be classless. But greed & corruption always take over, so it never works.

Because there are a few good men in society, such examples do exist.

For discussion: Do the bad men in society outnumber the good men?

China was far better off with capitalism than under communism. Thatis why their government desperately tried to walk a balance between the two.

You are quite wrong. War and slaughter exists throughout history regardless of econimics or politics. It is far worse under communism.
China's rise economically stemmed from limiting the influence of financial elites (billionaires) over the state's productive forces. The Chinese know all value is created by labor not by a small minority of parasites pursuing capital accumulation.

Socialism with Chinese characteristics - Wikipedia

"In the party's official narrative, socialism with Chinese characteristics is Marxism adapted to Chinese conditions and a product of scientific socialism.

"The theory stipulated that China was in the primary stage of socialism due to its relatively low level of material wealth and needed to engage in economic growth before it pursued a more egalitarian form of socialism, which in turn would lead to a communist society described in Marxist orthodoxy.[3]"

What a crock of shit. There were no controls. The Chinese use slave labor in unheard of amounts.

They control the people through social score boards. You truly are an idiot.

Economic inequality is not propaganda.
It's a feature of capitalism designed to create a handful of financial parasites who in turn fund the corrupt politicians who write the laws.

None of this has much in common with Adam Smith's version of capitalism:

Robert Reich: There are only 5 ways to become a billionaire — and none of them involve being successful in free market capitalism

"There are basically only five ways to accumulate a billion dollars, and none of them has to do with being successful in free market capitalism.

"The first way is to exploit a monopoly.

"Jamie Dimon is worth $1.6 billion.

"That’s not because he succeeded in the free market.

"In 2008 the government bailed out JPMorgan and four other giant Wall Street banks because it considered them 'too big to fail.'

"That bailout is a hidden insurance policy, still in effect, with an estimated value to the big banks of $83 billion a year.

"If JPMorgan weren’t so big and was therefore allowed to fail, Dimon would be worth far less than $1.6 billion."

Australian Senator Ralph Babett: “The people you elect to run your country are puppets. The puppeteers behind the scenes pulling the strings don't take your interests to heart. These tyrants want nothing more than to see you as slaves.”
Bourgeois democracy for you, such as it is.
By the way, slaves were expensive in antiquity. In ancient Rome, one healthy slave cost 3 annual salaries of a legionary.
Capitalism solved this problem - people become slaves of capital “voluntarily”

There's no such thing as voluntary slavery. It's a contradiction. But you're right, capitalism did get rid of actual slavery.

98% of new businesses die within two years.
So when you start your own business, you are little different from the woman who seeks to devote her life to a man who has already cheated 3 dozen other women because she thinks “she is different”.
