So the only way she called it a hoax was if she used the word "hoax". I would think claiming that people taking precautions are being called "sheep", and saying you don't need hand sanitizer and Lysol, is pretty much the same as.

Soap and water, 20 seconds of real washing kills every virus.

I doubted the broad impact of this too. I take it seriously now because I'm not stubborn and I read many media sources.

I will say though, much of this lies in the hands of those who didn't inform the world, including the W.H.O who told us in January it couldn't be transmitted from person to person.

All of the destruction that followed, lies at their feet. There must be consequences for the W.H.O and China. Whether we want to accept it or not, everything that follows, even the doubters; has the same source in a pandemic that could have been limited by 95%

While I am sad for her family and friends, she chose to put her life on the line, even though she didn't have to, given no report that she was a medical professional. Let's just hope that she did not infect anyone else.

There are posters on this board who are STILL saying they're going to go to church and they're not going to wear a mask. Me, I started spending a lot of time at home alone starting in January, first with the flu (no, not covid19), then my tooth absessed, and then the flu rebounded. This was a stomach flu. I was just emerging from 6 weeks of lying on my sofa binge watching sports on TV, when the virus hit North America.

So I've been self-isolating since January. In part because I was so sick, and worn down by the infection. I knew my immune system couldn't take another hit. So here I am, relaxing, visiting friends via FaceTime, and posting.

I hope that you are recuperating well and rapidly returning to good health. I have stomach issues that have kept me sidelined for a while. I can't believe that people still refuse to follow necessary guidelines. What angers me the most is the complete disregard that these idiots display toward the health and well-being of others. There was one total jerk interviewed as she drove up to church who said that she was going to Walmart and Home Depot, too. She just plain didn't care!

I lived in Toronto during SARS in 2003. Those who did, took this VERY seriously from day one, and that includes our Premier, Doug Ford. Dougie is former Mayor Rob Ford's dumber younger brother. But he has handled this very well, to the utter shock of everyone, because he's fucked up everything else so badly.

I went to Toronto January 22nd to go to the Canadian Figure Skating Championships live in Mississauga on Friday night, and to watch it with my friends on Saturday. I questioned the wisdom of going to the city then. I've been hunkered down ever since. I didn't make it Saturday. Fever and chills, and by Sunday morning I was worshipping at the porcelin altar.

My Toronto friends get together often over the winter to watch sports on TV. We go to live tennis, figure skating, baseball and basketball games together. One of our group is a travel agent who gets our entire group deals on hotels and airlines. When there's a big event on TV we get together for Not Going To . . . . parties where we watch on TV, drink wine and smart cocktails, and eat - all day. There are 6 of us, and we've been getting together to go to events for 20 years. And if we don't get together, we have a private facebook chat about whatever sports we're all watching on TV.

This year, everything is now cancelled so we can't even do that. I'm jones-ing for baseball. Real bad. The Baby Jays were just learning to be a team and so much fun to watch.

I've been trying to find an obituary in the Houston Chronicle, (Tomball is a suburb of Houston) but so far haven't found anything. There are a lot of posters out there all over the internet that believe the story is a hoax, but I haven't seen proof either way.
The Daily Kooks, retracted their story, then posted that they believed the story was a Russian hoax. They then deleted that, and once again they are running their original story.
I did find her sister-in-law's FB page. At least the page claims to be the woman's sister-in-law, and she says the story is true. There are also many FB posters that have left some despicable comments.
