This sanctuary cities nonsense needs to stop, NOW. Federal law regarding
immigration take precedence over State and Municipal law. When our cities
begin to decide independently what laws they want to obey, and what laws
they choose to ignore, we begin to unravel as a nation. If you folks on the
left wing don't like laws regarding immigration, then you go through the
legislative process of changing the law, you don't ignore it.

This last election my county voted to become a sanctuary county against overreaching gun laws.

Buchanan, a father of five, was killed when Valiente, who was driving without a license, swerved into his lane and killed him.

Sean Buchanan was a critic of President Trump and his immigration policies.

The immigrant was charged with reckless driving with a revoked license.

When he killed Buchanan, Ramirez Valiente was driving with a suspended license thanks to a 2018 DUI. He was also arrested for reckless endangerment in 2011 and domestic violence in 2016. A district attorney dismissed both charges.

After the crash, a close female acquaintance anonymously told ABC 7 Denver that Ramirez Valiente is “an alcoholic and an abuser.”

Federal law can never require anything at all from states or cities, as they must always be entirely independent of any federal jurisdiction.
Federal forces are always inherently abusive, so are supposed to be strictly limited by the Constitution.

The supremacy clause has to do with feds having priority over states when all else is equal.
But ICE is not at all equal to most state functions.
An immigration violation is not criminal, but only a regulatory infraction, similar to a parking ticket or forgetting to file your taxes on time.
So ICE has no priority at all over states when it comes to immigrants who are in custody for something else.
Nor is it legal for state enforcement to act on federal laws.
That is an overt violation of jurisdiction.
So as much as the feds want states to do their work for them, that is illegal and they can not do it.
All states are supposed to be sanctuary sites by law.

The feds do not enforce municipal law, and there is no reason why a city must assume responsibility to enforce federal laws. If you start seeing the FBI arresting drunk drivers on Main Street, let me know.
