Well I made it and it was definitely edible. The potato dumplings, so-so, I'd prefer regular dumplings or regular potatoes.
Actually, I prefer regular roast, too. But the smell is OUTSTANDING.
I even made the gravy using gingersnap cookie crumbs. It was interesting, pretty sour. Again, the smell is great...but I prefer my regular roast gravy.
I also made red cabbage and homemade rolls, which my daughter and guest REALLY liked.
The cake was killer.
I'm glad I made it, I hear people rave about sauerbraten all the time, now I'll know what they're talking about. But my plain roast is still better.
