I thought it was kind of odd that Scott feels telling half truths, and attempting to steer the public on political issues is something that is essential to our society

That would be true when the press is not in the regime's pocket.

Notice how he dropped the the critical word "free" from Jefferson's famous statements that a FREE press is essential in maintaining a Democracy. That is why we are on wobbly legs these days. We do not have three independent branches of government and we do not have a free press.
