Omarova was born in West Kazakhstan Region of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic,[6] stating in a 2020 interview with Chris Hayes that "I went to high school in a small, tiny Kazakh provincial town on the outskirts of the Soviet Empire [sic]. "[7] Omarova says she grew up in an all female household. Her mother was a doctor at a local hospital and she was chiefly raised by a grandmother, who, Omarova stated, was orphaned when Stalin sent her entire family to Siberia.[8] Omarova graduated from Moscow State University in 1989 on the Lenin Personal Academic Scholarship.[9][10]

Her thesis from MSU is titled "Karl Marx's Economic Analysis and the Theory of Revolution in The Capital".[11] Omarova moved to the United States in 1991, "with one suitcase and a fifty-dollar bill in my pocket".[12][7] She received a Ph.D in political science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison(UW), and a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.[2] At UW, Omarova defended her thesis, The Political Economy of Oil in Post-Soviet Kazakhstan.[13]

Kennedy will be having a victory lap on FOX News tonight!

I'm not well-versed about Senator Kennedy of LA, but he DEFINITELY deserves a top rating for his tenacity when this candidate, Anne Traum, a Biden judicial nominee, would not answer his question that he asked 9 times! lol

Before watching the clip, the headline gave me the impression that the senator was possibly being overly pompous asking the same question 9 times. But noooo! Sen. Kennedy stuck to his question even though Traum used her professional playbook to answer, instead of giving a straight answer. The question: "Do you think we should forgive criminal misbehavior in the name of social justice?" Watch and listen how she refuses to share her personal opinion using tactics only seen in dodge ball tournaments. She comes to close to answering, but still worries she might reveal too much and refuses. I especially liked Kennedy's last couple of comments that since she didn't answer his basic question, she didn't have his vote! lol perfect
