Senate passes measure to allow gun transport on Amtrak - CNN.com

ASHINGTON (CNN) -- Amtrak would lose its federal subsidies if it doesn't put a system in place by early next year to check and track firearms so that passengers can legally put the weapons in their checked baggage, the Senate voted Wednesday.

he measure, an amendment to the transportation and housing appropriations bill, passed 68-30.

The House version of the bill, passed in July, does not include the provision, so further steps would be needed for it to reach President Obama's desk.

Amtrak's current policy prohibits passengers from carrying "any type of gun, firearm, ammunition, explosives or weapon" in carry-on or checked baggage.

But according to Conservatives on here, those Liberals in Congress and Obama are going to take away our guns! Yet they're granting us more gun rights?

And what about Obama's vote that help passed the Vitter Amendment?

:eusa_eh:

I suppose the Republicans are hard at work trying to find some way to spin this in their favor.

Wait a minute. Pale Rider told us that Congress was working on a bill to register all our guns, in order to take them all away.

And Obama was going to take our guns away after he was elected.

I guess it's opposite day. I suppose Republicans like Pale and others just love to bullshit that "Oh my god! The Liberals are coming! The Liberals are coming for our guns!"

However, when rubber meets road, their gun rights are expanded. So while they can continue to bullshit that their rights are being taken away, it's clearly obvious they aren't.

Do notice that this thread's responses are as empty as a ghost town. No Willow, No Pale, no none of them.

How does it work on airplanes now? Can you transport it as long as you claim it? Do you have to arrange it beforehand?

However it works, trains should be the same way.

Exactly.

What is the big deal, you can take guns on airlines if you declare them, have them unloaded and in the baggage section. Hunters and sportsmen do it all the time!!! The greenies are always screaming that no one takes public transportation and maybe this is why!!!
