How Ashley Judd could beat Mitch McConnell in 2014 - Yahoo! News
Kentucky and national Democrats say Judd has decided to throw her hat in the ring. Here, three things she should keep in mind
It's semi-official, says Howard Fineman at The Huffington Post: "Ashley Judd, the 44-year-old actress and social activist, has told key advisers and political figures that she is planning to announce her candidacy for U.S. Senate here this spring," around the time of the Kentucky Derby. Judd "offered a not-quite-ironclad denial," but Republicans are already running against her, and assuming these sources are right, Kentucky's 2014 Senate race is about to get unusually interesting.
2. Don't be a stranger or a carpetbagger
Judd will also have to "work overtime to convince voters she has not lost touch with her Kentucky roots," says Lauren Fox at U.S. News. That means moving back to the state where she was raised and attended college, ASAP
On the bright side, Congress has wall-wall red carpet.
I remember you all laughing about Elizabeth Warren as well.
She hit the ground running.
Ashley Judd might just put that particular old man out to pasture and it couldn't be too soon.
Could be a good race to watch.......
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, where Judd can often be seen in the stands during basketball games, she also earned a master's degree from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, and has become an international activist on women's issues and AIDS prevention.

She clearly has the intelligence to make a good Senator. But Kentucky is a hard core Red State.
She may receive a little over 50 percent in louisville and lexington but she'll be landslided.
Maybe someone actually has something to say.
Personally, I have to wonder why the democrats would run a novelty candidate if they were serious about unseating McConnell. Surely there are more experienced, qualified people in the state for them to get behind. This sort of circus only hastens the cheapening of our political process. The House is chock full 'o nuts, but the Senate at least should remain a somewhat more august body.

I would like to see McConnel replaced, he, like McCain is too old and senile for the job. But don't replace him with an airhead actress whose only knowledge of politics came from her idiot mother.

And Reagan still became President. Amazing isn't it?

What is it with you libs and the reagan-hate? The man is dead.
BTW, before becoming POTUS he was a successful governor of the left wing state of California---------what exactly has Judd accomplished politically?

Kentucky is much different than Mass. Mass seems to not care if their gov reps are frauds, cheaters and socialists!
As one pundit put it:
Jonathan Chait argued on Monday, conceding that Democrats can win in such states if they position themselves to the right of their party's leaders. "But Ashley Judd isnt way more conservative than the national Democrat party. Shes way less conservative."
Judd has stated publicly that she's committed to Obama.
Well here's how the presidential race went in 2012 in Kentucky.
Right now she doesn't even live in the state, and calls Tennessee home, so you can officially tag her with being a carpetbagger if she moves in just to run for office.
I wonder how well her "breeding" comments will go over in Kentucky ?
Being anti-coal sure wont help.
Probably the single-biggest issue Mitch could hit her with though is guns. He can tell his fellow Kentuckians that this Hollywood liberal outsider will be another vote in the Senate to limit their gun rights.

Judd isn't going to run for President, but Senator. What was Reagan before Governor? Why, an airheaded actor. Imagine that!
I love these folks that worship at the alter of St. Ronney, but slam Ashley Judd for being {GASP} an actor...just like their lord and savior, Ronald Reagan.

I don't recall being that interested
You don't recall? I can remember plenty of threads started where the only line of attack for Republicans was calling Warren a fake Native American. There was no substance to the arguments. Just cheap personal attacks. Republicans may as well have handed Elizabeth Warren her Senate seat.
RR ran the actors union. when he noticed the overt communist threat inside the union, he changed parties. And Reagan still became President. Amazing isn't it?
