Should assisted suicide be a federal right

I think most deserve the chance to die with dignity and efficiency
Suppose you are tired of your mental problems or you recently have been obliterated with physical problems or maybe the aging process is causing you daily nightmares and you can’t deal with it
Maybe you’re tired of being alone and eating alone

We all have that right!!!!
Thx

As for Me life is super awesome and super happy
I have a dream job in a dream city
"Assisted suicide" happens in America every single day.
It is essentially how my father died.
It is called a morphine drip. They give them large does that effectively, over just a day or two they simply stop breathing in their sleep

It always starts out that way. Then, for the very best of reasons people start dying who don't want to die at all.

There are people that are sick, terminal, living lives of agony or deep emotional grief. The reasonable person would not want to live like that. Those who chose not to die may need someone to make that decision for them. They are no longer capable of thinking clearly enough. If anyone in their right mind would chose to end their lives, that this person doesn't only proves they aren't of sound mind. It is up to society. Do the right thing. Suicide them.
Most make the decision, and carry it out, privately.

Sign me up! (When the time comes of course.) I don't want to linger, be a burden, or let strangers consume my children's inheritance.

1st : It is a human right. Why shouldnt someone end their life, if that is their will?
2nd : You need help man. Last week you were on the verge of full blown depression. No you have a good life?
Either you are severely bipolar, have split personality, or you are a troll.

WTF?? IT has zero to do with me. GEEZZZZ

I do not believe anyone should be forced to help someone else end their life. Isn't that what a federal right to assisted suicide means or could mean?

My doctor asked me to fill out advanced directives. A living will. It contained options for delivery or withholding nutrition, hydration and resuscitation. I checked the boxes for everything. I want it all. The doc went totally ballistic and told me I could not ask for those provisions. They were on the preprinted form. I'm pretty sure I can. It was worth it just to watch doctor and nurse in complete meltdown.

That isn't what I said at all, that is what you said. The question was should the government ASSIST in a suicide nothing about the government telling someone how to end their life.
The OPS question : Should assisted suicide be a federal right. You said only in the case of terminal illness. No one said anything about the govt shoving a tube of poison in your veins.

Move to a different state. Would you rather the federal government compel rape victims to carry resulting pregnancies to term. Or is killing babies in the delivery room more to your taste.. They can compel vaccinations, and do. They can tell you what you can eat, drink, smoke, fuck, think, and speak. Perhaps the UN would be better.
I live in Oregon in relative freedom. We have "death with dignity" laws here. A woman can still get an abortion if she needs one. You can even smoke a joint without getting thrown in jail. You can own guns if you want. You can go to Church if you want. You can vote without worrying that the state will just ignore the results and send fake electors.

I can understand your concerns though. If the state can compel pregnancies, what's to stop them from compelling euthanasia?

I also have a living will but I'll have to review the provisions. I executed it just before I had my triple bypass surgery. I know it directs that the plug be pulled if I'm brain dead (of course there are those who think I'm in this condition already).:omg:

Again, assisted suicide happens everyday. Morphine drip.
My daughter is a core respiratory therapist, my son a respiratory specialist. Neither one of these two is someone you want to be in your hospital room. If they are there... then that means you have a serious pulmonary condition.
Both of them have "pulled the plug" on patients literally 100s of times.
People become terminal. And those that have the foresight to write up DNRs (Do not Resuscitate) - the staff have no option other than to "assist their death". I.E. - give them enough narcotics to where they don't care and simply stop breathing in their sleep.
Better than as one person said here - remove my childrens inheritance to keep me alive for a week or two

It most certainly is not.
It is humane and keeps hospitals from erasing years of savings to keep someone artificially alive for only days or weeks.
Suicide is an overt act and presumably a decision by the victim. You do the hardworking people in the medical field a disservice when you accuse them of assisted suicide when they terminate life support.

Assisted suicide is important for all 50 states.

I have seen it suggested that people could travel to another state to do it. If a person is in such a state that they cannot commit suicide on their own, traveling may not be possible.
