Truth is, you cannot. Chemistry does not give a FUCK where The Carbon and Hydrogen came from. It will put them together using the covalent bonds and that is it. No logic to it. No feelings... It's just Cold Hard Chemistry.

Carbon and Hydrogen are everywhere on The Earth and in it. When Crust is sublimated in to the Mantle you are feeding The Earth's Interior massive and infinitely incalculable amounts of Hydrogen and Carbon.

Heat and Pressure take this Hydrogen and Carbon and free the covalent bonds, and just like in a distillery or refinery, the Hydrogen and Carbon rises and cools as it escapes the interior and forms new covalent bonds, and new molecules such as Methane, Ethane, and Propane for example, and a whole host of other Hydrocarbons. Petroleum like coal is more like a Hydrocarbon soup that we can locate and retrieve more easily than some of the other hydrocarbons. It's dense and easier to retrieve. So that is what we usually go after.

Even if we spent the tens of trillions of dollars she'd like, and we become totally carbon footprint free, we only represent 4.4% of the worlds population. Can you name me anything that improved greatly by changing only 4.4%?
