SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KABC) -- Sirhan Sirhan, who is serving a life sentence for the assassination of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, was stabbed in the neck and badly wounded at a San Diego prison.

He was transported to an outside hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Sirhan, 75, is incarcerated at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego.

He was stabbed Friday around 2:21 p.m.

Paramedics say they responded to the prison at that time for a male patient who had been stabbed in the neck and was bleeding and transported him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego.

He was described as being in stable condition.

"The suspect in the attack has been identified, and has placed in the prison's Administrative Segregation Unit, pending an investigation," the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said.

Mr. Sirhan is a Palestinian alien, and would be presumably be deported if he was released on humanitarian grounds.

Sirhan Sirhan.....Palestinian immigrant........ Never became a US citizen. Christian.

The suspect in the stabbing is probably a Muslim immigrant who never should have been in the country in the first place. If the attacker had been a white male Republican the media would be reporting his identity within minutes.

Usually, however, only if there is a good reason.

Finding the motive here is the key.

Did Mr. Sirhan disrespect someone? Did he spurn a gay prisoner's recruitment efforts? Did he snitch on someone, or imply he was going to?

The last I heard of this case, four or five years ago. Sirhan still had no memory of the crime at all. That was his defense initially. He still doesn't remember a thing.

Sure, shit happens. But it is still a crime which needs investigated. If the perpetrator is able to finger those higher on the food chain that ordered the assault, that would be a deal that would be interesting to make.
