The U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeal, which upheld same-sex marriage bans in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, issued its decision three months after hearing same-sex marriage cases from all four states. In each of those states, federal judges had struck down same-sex marriage bans on constitutional grounds.

Its rather irrelevant in the long run - the SCOTUS has already struck down such concepts and there is nothing that points to them upholding these.

The issue is that the electorate is now pushing the issue as well. 10 years ago any votes for gay marriage to pass always ended in failure. Now they are passing all over the place.

The sixth circuit is also way out of line, and has been for some time. Decisions issued by the Sixth Circuit were reversed by the United States Supreme Court 24 out of the 25 times they were reviewed in the five annual terms starting in October 2008 and ending in June 2013 — a higher frequency than any other federal appellate court during that time period.

That's not a statistic at all. That wide a margin screams BS to be honest. I am not even sure there are accurate numbers taken in this instance - at least not reported. I cant find anything pertaining to actual numbers from the FBI, the best place for accurate data on national crime statistics. It is a fact that almost all child sex exploitation is perpetrated by men though and I don't think that really is all that surprising. There is absolutely zero evidence to link it to homosexuality to child exploitation though and the claim Tom is making is completely ludicrous.


If you want to make such asinine claims Tom, you really should source them and come up with real evidence that this is going to be the case.

As the father of a girl, I actually care about children, and am aware of the actual statistics.

My child is in more danger of sexual molestation than any boy- 3 to 10 times more likely.

Yes, this is good news where the Supreme Court will have no other option but to rule on the issue, affording gay Americans an opportunity to at last realize their comprehensive civil rights.

But nothing is 'guaranteed,' although a 5 – 4 ruling overturning the 6th Circuit's decision is the likely outcome, it's far from guaranteed, particularly given the Court's reluctance to hear the case.

If Cook had been replaced by White (A bush appointee to get Sutton and Cook confirmed) or if any of the Obama judges, it would have been 2-1 in favor of gay marriage. Sutton is no hack and wrote a decision upholding Obama care and moved him from being the 6tth circuit judge most likely to be elevated to the USSC to that of Kethledge. Cook is pretty much a given conservative vote. Sutton an Kethledge are widely regarded as the two intellectual superstars on that Court. But I think half of the regular judges and half of the senior judges would have sided with Martha Craig Daughtrey, who is a solid judge-I respect her a lot-she was always good in the arguments I was involve in
