Social Welfare is immoral and evil.

Then if the people in your society say that killing all Jewish people is moral, does that make it true?

The question of slavery is yes and no. At a time in our history slavery was considered moral. The question was debated and the country determined that slavery was immoral. The debate got violent. This means we can change our minds about what is moral and what is immoral. It also means that our system is not perfect and can be wrong about judgements on the issue of morality. Thankfully we have a system that allows us to make change.
In regards to killing all jewish people such as was done in Europe by Germany, you once again pick a loaded example. The German people didn't make this decision, it was made in secret by a dictator. In addition, that deciscion has always been viewed as immoral.

No it wasn't.

While the majority of the Germans didn't choose Hitler to be their leader, they weren't that unhappy to see the Jews go.

Rent out Triumph of the Will sometime.

And to answer the original question?

Yeah..if a particular society says something is "moral", to that society..it is moral.

Morals are pretty subjective.

No. Slavery is not moral and it never was.

You just said slavery was moral. I hope you are black too.

Honestly..are you interested in discussion? Or playing gotcha.

Because this is old style trolling.

Sure it was. For a very long time. Until people decided it wasn't.

Forced slavery, forcing somone against their will to be your slave, is and has always been immoral, regardless of what you or your religion says. Just because you think religion supports slavery, does not give you the moral authority to violate someone's individual freedom and property.

I hop you tell your black friends that slavery is/was moral.

Easy to say slavery has always been immoral now. Fact is at one time you could be a God fearing, law abiding citizen and your government and church told folks owning slaves was not immoral. The community did not judge the slave owners as being immoral.

And those same churches also condoned their members putting white sheets over their heads and go attack black people and burn crosses in their yards.

Were those actions moral too?

This is something I want to highlight to people. Just because the government and the majority of the people say something, does not make an action moral or immoral. This is sick. You have bought into the State being the decider of what is correct.

I am very interested in discussing. That's why I asked the original question. Your philosophy and statism is evil.

It is perfectly moral for people to choose representatives, and to give them the power to tax and the power to spend. It is perfectly moral to provide that those elected to office can do things that reflect their best judgement (by definition, the will of the majority), and to compel everyone - even those who did not vote for them, or those who personally disagree with a given policy - to conform. Even if it means paying taxes for something with which you personally disagree.

This is not only "moral" but civilized. Consider the situation in Iraq right now. They have an elected government, but those who didn't vote for the government that was elected believe they have the Allah-given right to KILL those who they don't like. This is what happens when you deny the basic tenets of representative government.

It is perfectly moral for elected officials to decide that it is worthwhile to take money from those who can afford it, to provide for those who cannot provide for themselves, for one reason or another. And with human institutions being what they are, there will always be those who cheat the system, so that there will be people taking money from the government who are not among the intended beneficiaries.

It would be IMMORAL in those circumstances for any of the "taxpayers" to refuse to pay the taxes because they disagree with the policy of providing for those who cannot provide for themselves. Because they are part of the community and reap its benefits, they have a moral obligation to pay the price that their elected representatives demand.

Now, whether it is CONSTITUTIONAL for the United States Federal Government to tax the population to provide money and non-monetary benefits to individual citizens...that's another question.

Consider whether it is MORAL for an elected official - say, a judge - to swear an oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, then to make decisions that make a mockery of that very document. That would be immoral, in my view.

It is not moral for the majority to take away the rights of the minority. The majority opinion does not define morality. No matter how great a majority, you have no moral right to violate me and my property. No matter how great the majority, it is immoral to force someone to do somehting against their will.

it is not moral to steal. I was taught this at an early age. No matter if it's for the good, the bad, the neutral or whatever, it is immoral to steal. It is immoral to force people to do something against their will.

Your philosophy abut majority rule is something the Founders sought to minimize, even though it has failed. Your philosophy is evil. With that mind, we can say that slavery is moral, and it is not. We can say that the holocaust was moral, and it was not.

Please check out the Non Agression principle and learn about what is truly moral
