Seattle voters have elected a socialist to city council for the first time in modern history. Kshama Sawant, a member of the populist Occupy Seattle movement, ran on a platform of raising Washington State’s minimum wage to $15 and levying a “millionaire tax” to pay for mass transit and public education.

Sawant took 50.3 percent of the vote to incumbent Richard Conlin’s 49.4 percent. Even in this liberal city, Sawant's win has surprised many here because Conlin was backed by the city's political establishment.

While city council races are technically non-partisan, Sawant made sure people knew she was running as a socialist – a label that would be politically poisonous in many parts of the country.

Truly pathetic but it does not surprise me one bit. Seattle is politically insane. Unfortunately, they HUGELY influence elections forcing the entire state to swallow their crap.

The one think that I always found interesting though is that the state is still a pretty avid gun and hunting state. It does not fit in but I guess that the rest of the state still has the power to hold onto something.

More defined
Socialist = government controlling means of production
Democrat = government regulating private industry with some control of the common good.

Or basically the same thing. You don't know the difference, do you?

You don't know the difference as I took classes in it. :eusa_whistle: There is socialist, hybrid mixture that of most of the west and pure capitalist.

socialism for everybody let's get this crash started before I get any older hardship for the elderly will make for a hard recovery on them.

A pure socialist would be demanding that the government take over the means of production.

NO, thats a Communist, Jake. A socialist would insist on private/public "partnerships" that are nothing more than gov't dictating to private industry what they make and what their policies ought to be. Like firing the CEO of GM. Or vetting their advertising. Or making the banks essentially gov't utilities. Or giving some companies special treatment in bankruptcy to help the unions.
Gee, I just described the Obama Administration. Accident? I think not.

She got 50.3% if the vote vs 49.4% for Richard Conlin. He needs to ask for a recount.

Her ideas if ever implemented (which by far is a long shot) would drive the Seattle economy straight into the ground. Corporations would pack up and leave in huge numbers.

So, the article begins with a lie. We are talking about Seattle here. They are all socialists.

You also discribe another person too. Starts with an H. Not going to mention any names sounds like itler:lol:

Hey, you dimwits have been braying about third party viability for a long time. So the Socialists one upped you. Funnier than hell. Guess they are a bit smarter than you, because all you have been doing is flap-yapping and hiding behind the GOP skirts.
