International diplomacy is complicated, and there is no right or wrong answer necessarily. If you recall, we were allies with Russia against Hitler during WWII. I'll help you out a bit. Nobody in the world with any sense, believes we want to be more like Russia, at least nobody with an education past 6th grade.

Out of respect for the country, Trump should have kept his mouth shut praising Putin and just tweed, we will be getting to the bottom of this on January 20.
Instead he is embarrassing the US

I have no idea how Trump will deal with Putin and Russia when he becomes President and neither does anyone despite the hysterics by some over the subject. What I do know is it's somewhat odd that the people who mocked Mitt Romney so much in 2012 for calling Russia a great geopolitical foe now seem to understand what he meant.
