Super Bowl 52 [2018] featured an incredibly and unlikely matchup between the seemingly-indomitable Super Bowl Team of the New Millennium, the 'Metal Machine' New England Patriots who represented absolute efficiency and success and athletic fortune and the gritty-scrappy Underdog Team of the New Millennium, the David-like Philadelphia Eagles who represented working-man values regarding the yearning to 'topple' the proverbial 'Big-Brother' of capitalism complacency. The Patriots had won a whopping 5 Super Bowl titles since 2000, while the Eagles had reached a whopping 6 NFC Championship games since 2000 but won only 2 of them [2005, 2018]. The Patriots were led by Goliath-like QB Tom Brady, and the Eagles were led by spirited backup-QB Nick Foles who was trying to rally the team after they lost their starting phenom-QB (Carson Wentz) to a season-ending injury.
Super Bowl Sunday was set [February 4, 2018], and the stakes were intriguing. All sports-writers declared it would be nearly-impossible for Foles' upstart gritty-scrappy Eagles to surmount the titan-like Brady-led Patriots, so only romantics and madmen gambled on the Eagles to win, and if the Eagles managed a victory through some kind of unforeseen miracle, it would be the greatest upset arguably in Super Bowl history. Most sports-fans were simply bored with seeing Brady and the Patriots win everything, but they didn't really 'bank' on the underdog Eagles to provide some kind of startling 'change' to expectations. In other words, no one wanted the Patriots to win, but no one really dared/dreamed to root for the Eagles since they were such a huge underdog.
