Wrong.

More presidents have been impeached after the the passage of the 17th Amendment.

Americans are ignorant as to the impeachment process, they have no understanding of its purpose and use.

The 14th amendment has been used to wreak havoc on Constitutional government. Its god awful because it was written in spite, open to abuse, and stitched on to the Constitution after it was rejected by both the people and the states.
But the 17th, by its very purpose, broke our government. Power never checks itself and with the 17th the states lost all practical power to check the federal government. As a result the states were reduced to vassal status with no defense.
