Why does national debt increase by a trillion a year?

Debt mostly. We're still deficit spending, (less than before but its still deficit spending) but as it related to paying down the national debt?

Mostly we're just paying off the interest and not attacking the principle, so that national debt continues to climb with every deficit dollar borrowed

Can't wait to hear the dems attempt to challange that!!!
