The novel, is as stated, about a deserter- not just any deserter, mind you, but, a Delta Force officer- he winds up in Venezuela where he begins his quest for revenge against one who ordered him, and those under his command to do unspeakable things in Afghanistan- two CID personnel are sent to find and arrest him- it's entertaining, informative, enlightening and plausible-
Venezuela is described as a shit hole- especially Caracas where gangs, official and unofficial, control everything and most everyone and it's hard to determine who's good and who ain't, since the corruption is entrenched in the Capital as the official way of doing business-and the average citizen is caught in the middle-
