Here are three fun short story synopses about random eccentricity/magic/terror.

I miss the days of campfire anthropology.

I. The Mirror:
-A movie star realizes he is the image of vanity in American culture and modern cosmopolitan culture in general, since he is a socialized rendition of James Dean! His name is Leo and he comes to terms with the notion that those who worship his image are devotees to a certain 'pictorial' approach to religion/faith (even if that 'faith' is atheism). Muslims do not cater to imagery, so Leo considers the possibility that his media-sparked celebrity status is now 'glide-touching' the surface of the oceans of society chatter. Will Muslims consider Leo a 'Western fallen idol'?

II. The Shoe-Box:
-A jaded American boy named Daniel was a big fan of comic book superheroes, particularly Mandrake the Magician and the Flash. Daniel wanted Mandrake to defeat the Flash in a small battle, so he formulated a story outline for a terrific movie-script. Mandrake was to take Polaroid instant-photos of Flash running towards him and then present them as time-frozen 'relics/fossils' of a 'being' who can supposedly out-run time itself! Flash was enraged and declared the photos heresy, but Mandrake maintained they would make Daniel proud!

III. The Balaclava:
-A certain band of wandering Cossacks found themselves in the isolated deserts of Arabia where they mingled with the natives, pretending to be roaming poets and scholars (in ski-masks!). One Russian diplomat who happened to be in the same area of 'Arabia' as the Cossacks noticed their Russian-like manner and asked them flat-out, "What would happen if you all removed your balaclava (ski-masks)?" to which they eerily replied, "We'd lose our cynical face!"
