The new police force.... same as the old police force.

The new so-called reorganized community police forces will still be police forces. With the addition of a few BBQ events and some cops marching on the crowds with signs there will still be murderers to arrest drug dealers to stop and gun battles to be had.

The idea that there will come a time when no one is arrested for anything is as ridiculous as believing that the moon is made of green cheese.

The human psyche has as one of its long-standing components an aspect of criminality. Until we evolve into a completely different type of being that aspect will always need to be supervised by police enforcement.

All of this feel-good bullshit about reorganizing the police departments will quickly fade into history the moment a newly-crowned community police officer has to pull his weapon in order to defend himself. Think it won't happen? Then you're a fool.

This is a type of an argumentum ad hominem and is used by the weak.

No one is arguing that no one will be arrested.

They're not marching for civil rights
They're marching for the right to be predators with no consequences.
The moment a fatality occurs all bets will be off and the lawless element bolstered by previous stupid concessions will launch a new wave of protests in search of ever more autonomous criminality you doofus.
Put that in your ad-HOMO-name.

the more that things change the more they stay the same-
Nice foreign language throw in. After checking to make sure that is what it said, like typical American only knowing enough foreign language to order food or get directions or the occasional swearing insult and thankful they seem almost universally more familiar with mine, I looked up Jean Baptiste, being familiar with phrase, but previously not knowing who said it. Wiki had amazing number of them. I give. Which Jean Baptiste?

One illogical position is that all people are not different in their own ways..There are some that collect with like minded individuals but in the end they still have their own perspective of what and why they are doing it. It is not so simple to throw them all into a pigeonhole and be relevant with that deduction you are using.

What REALLY needs to be looked at is who we vote for!

When a mayor & city council enact laws such as using traffic tickets as revenue generation...it pits the police against the people and it's neithers fault!

It's the fault of the mayor & city council!

Speed traps? A little off the subject. Don't get me started, but pays to be wary in poor counties across the US.

Absolutely. This was an issue in the Eric Garner situation. The mayor was using the police as tax collectors. That needs to stop.

People have never liked tax collectors.

I don't think that the police chief should be a subordinate of the mayor.
Or subject to dismissal by the mayor.

A very large and strong man resisting violently and even effectively will require the strongest measures to subdue him and keep him that way

There are options....mechanical ones but those wood almost certainly cause
a civil rights outcry.
