The Northman

Viking men were huge fierce warriors and just the mention of their name struck fear in the hearts of people who lived near the coastlines of Europe and constantly being raided by Viking ships.
The word "berserk", meaning to go wild and crazy.
Comes from the Old Norse term "berserker", the name for a Viking warrior clothed in animal skins that fought with superhuman strength and uncontrolled frenzy during battle.

The Valkyrie are female. They decide who wins, who lives and who dies. Freyja is the Goddess of war. She gets first pick of the dead and they go to Folkvangr. The rest go to Valhalla taken by the Valkyrie. That's where this idea comes from I think.

A while back there was a grave with a female skeleton and either a shield or a sword or both. A whole lot of speculation came from that as if it was solid proof of a regular occurance. Except it wasn't.

So, there is some hope that maybe this one might be a little more factual because even before the more recent nitwittery ANY movies related to Viking history has not been factual.

No "Shield Maidens". It's based on Amelith which is what Shakespeare based Hamlet on. All the frenzy one could hope for.
