There should be thousands of jobs making new ventilators, which is the key to the entire scenario. You cannot stop a virus from slowly spreading through the population, mostly asymptomatic or mild symptoms, until herd immunity is reached. If you don't have to triage ventilators, you have succeeded. People will die in the US by the millions mostly of natural causes, of which this is now one. You don't actually die of COVID, you die of pneumonia, like with the flu.

2.5 million people each year die in the US. They will continue to die. Death is natural. We will all someday die. We don't need to commit national suicide and enter a Venezuelan hell because of it.
