There is some humor in this government shutdown.

Watching (Ayn) Rand Paul on Meet the Press. Come on, that crazy spaghetti hair piece? The ill fitting tie and shirt? Who is he? Jethro?

Just the fact Republicans are suddenly worried about "children with cancer" and the "poor"???? And veterans???? Republicans? That's a hoot. No one believes it and yet they say it anyway.

And that softball interview by Savannah. It made me laugh.

Who is at fault for the shutdown? - Video on NBCNews.com

The round table was even more hilarious. A GOP strategist said he saw a pol that showed the house approval rating at 5% with a margin of error at 6%.

Now this is probably the most hilarious of all. How many people in Kentucky want healthcare? (Ayn) Rand Paul is suggesting no one. But let's take a look at that:

So, there is demand for health care; Ky. off to good start, let law work | Kentucky.com

By 4 p.m. Friday, less than four full days into the rollout:

■ 148,743 unique visitors to kynect.ky.gov had been recorded.

■ 134,222 had conducted pre-screenings to find out whether they qualify for subsidies, discounts or Medicaid.

■ 17,872 applications had been received and 11,879 completed.

■ 5,372 individuals and/or families had enrolled in new health care coverage.

■ 178 small businesses had started applications for health insurance for their employees.

■ 25,040 calls had been fielded by the kynect contact center (1-855-459-6328).

Perhaps Rep. Andy Barr, R-Lexington, should reconsider his conviction that Kentuckians "want protection from Obamacare." A lot of them just want any care.

So far, it's been a laugh riot. Can't wait for what ever nuttiness Republicans come up with next. It may be stupid, but it seems like it's always fraught with humor.
