The impeachment was nothing but a desperate attempt to make their bad candidates look good. Notice how it went from quid pro quo to bribery because they found out their base wasn't smart enough to understand quid pro quo. Then when that fell through they settled for abuse of office.
The Supreme Court ruled on exectiutive privalage many years ago. It was their belief that the president and his people needed the right to be able to speak freely and consider all ideas to effectively do their job. That without executive privilege they would be constrained. The Supreme Court can rule on an individual basis but barring grievous circumstances they will more then likely rule for executive privilege. Unfortunately for Joe and his son that same ruling does not apply.
