I believe we are at the tail end of the 6000 years period of this earth's temporal existence. Christ will make his second coming appearance in the beginning of the 7000th year period of this earth's temporal existence, the millennium or the seventh seal. The time is drawing close and it is important that we realize this and prepare for his coming.

When John was allowed to look upon the book in Revelation, when the first seal was opened, this is what he saw:

If the first seal represents the first thousand years of the earth's temporal existence, then this would include the days of the first patriarchs on the earth and the most notable of these would be father Adam and Enoch. Adam lived to be 930 years old and he died. Enoch lived to the year 987 and established the city of Zion and in his days and he and his entire city were translated into heaven. I believe that the white horse and he who sat upon it represents a great era of righteousness. Enoch established righteousness in his days and his entire city was taken up to God.

When John was allowed to look upon the writings of the second seal, this is what he saw:

3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

If the second seal represents the second thousand years of the earth's temporal existence, then this would include the days of Noah. In the days of Noah, the earth was filled with violence and God determined to destroy all life on the earth except that which entered Noah's ark. I think that the color of the red horse represents death.

When John was allowed to view the writings of the third seal, this what he saw:

Revelation 6:5-6
5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

If the third seal represents the third thousand years of the earth's temporal existence, then this would include the days Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (Israel), and Joseph. The concept of balances and measuring food seems to indicate days famine. Abraham originally went to Egypt to escape famine. Food may have been more scarce during times of the third seal and we read of Joseph storing grain in Egypt for a seven year famine. Joseph's family migrated to Egypt for a time because of the scarcity of food. So I believe the third thousand years of this earth's temporal existence was marked with much famine and I believe the black horse is a representation of famine.
