This story encapsulates many of the themes we discuss daily.

Exactly! We had people who were fired for being Trump supporters, or denied promotions.

Where was the crying for them?

Trump is cleaning house by getting rid of biased, politically-driven government employees in a position to do harm or otherwise impede the agenda of that which America voted for.
Good point. The bigger point is how this nation has a major disdain for hard working poor people.

That’s a big reason Trump won. The lower-income working class saw that Democrats fought for illegals and welfare leeches while mocking the working class as morons in flyover country.

Pretty stupid to show such contempt for the largest voting bloc in the nation.

“At my direction, every Department of Justice attorney is required to zealously advocate on behalf of the United States,” Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote in a statement sent to The Times on Saturday. “Any attorney who fails to abide by this direction will face consequences.”

Bondi is demanding the attorneys who work for her commit professional suicide by violating the oath they took when they became lawyers. For what? An ignorant rapist and convicted felon who is single handedly destroying the global economy. Those attorneys should resign before it's too late to save their careers.

Repubs certainly do. Why else would they be working so hard to defend someone hell bent on reigniting inflation which hurts the working poor the most.

That is the opposite of the truth. But how would you know? You've been getting gaslit by trump and RWM for so long you don't know fact from fiction any longer.

You've been being gaslit by your echo chamber for so long that you don't know fact from fiction from opinion.

“Unfortunately, experienced professionals throughout the Department are afraid to voice their opinions because dissent is being punished,” she said. “Decisions are being made based on relationships and loyalty, not based on facts or expertise or sound analysis, which is very alarming given that what is at stake is our public safety.”

Fired U.S. pardon attorney complains of intimidation tactics ahead of testimony in 'shadow hearing'

WASHINGTON — A lawyer representing the former U.S. pardon attorney complained in a letter to the Justice Department that it was using "security resources to intimidate" Liz Oyer ahead of her planned participation in a "shadow" hearing held Monday by congressional Democrats.

The letter said the Justice Department dispatched special deputy U.S. marshals to the home of Oyer, who said she was fired after she opposed adding actor Mel Gibson to a list of people having their gun rights restored. (A Justice Department official disputed that the Gibson case drove her dismissal.) The special deputy U.S. marshals had been told to deliver a letter warning Oyer to obey her obligation not to reveal information protected by executive privilege at the event Monday. Ultimately, they did not deliver the letter, after Oyer confirmed receipt of the message to a secondary email.

In a nutshell, Oyer voiced her objection to trump fan Mel Gibson having his gun rights restored. Not only was she fired, the regime tried to prevent her congressional testimony (watch the YouTube video and you'll see why) by way of intimidation. They failed. But only due to Oyer's courage.

This thread will be forgotten by trump supporters within days if not hours. (trump fans insert snark here) Not only because a story like this encapsulates so many things that are wrong about how it is destroying America's most vital institutions, but because there are so many stories like it.

Like this one.

Justice Dept. Lawyers Are Struggling to Defend Trump’s Policies in Court

The Trump administration’s aggressive efforts to enact major elements of its agenda have led to a series of courtroom clashes between increasingly skeptical judges and the beleaguered lawyers responsible for defending the government’s positions, which some have come to see as indefensible.

The Justice Department’s thinned-out civil division has borne the brunt of the growing conflict. Inside the division, the strains of pushing the legal limits on topics as varied as mass deportations, spending power and punishing law firms are taking a major toll. Government litigators, their ranks increasingly depleted, often find themselves in court with few facts to defend policies they cannot explain, according to current and former officials.

Career lawyers representing the government have a long tradition of arguing for the goals of Republican or Democratic administrations, regardless of their personal views. What is different now, they say, is that they increasingly feel trapped between President Trump’s partisan political appointees, who insist on a maximalist approach, and judges who demand comprehensible answers to basic questions.
The most vivid example of this squeeze came on Saturday when one of the department’s senior immigration lawyers, Erez Reuveni, was suspended indefinitely after speaking candidly about the administration’s mistaken deportation of a Maryland man to a notorious megaprison in El Salvador.

A senior Justice Department immigration lawyer was put on indefinite leave Saturday after questioning the Trump administration’s decision to deport a Maryland man to El Salvador — one day after representing the government in court.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche suspended Erez Reuveni, the acting deputy director of the department’s immigration litigation division, for failing to “follow a directive from your superiors,” according to a letter sent to Mr. Reuveni and obtained by The New York Times.

Mr. Reuveni — who was praised as a “top-notched” prosecutor by his superiors in an email announcing his promotion two weeks ago — is the latest career official to be suspended, demoted, transferred or fired for refusing to comply with a directive from President Trump’s appointees to take actions they deem improper or unethical.

Personally, I don't have any sympathy for a lawyer who voluntarily went to work for the regime since they knew, or should have known, what they were getting involved in. Putting put in a position to violate their oath as an attorney by doing what they are told by people like Todd Blanche was inevitable. Their client, the government, is corrupt. Duh.

I can't even.

Was this from some hearing in 2021 to 2024?

The plan is to gain control of Justice, State, the Press, the Courts and the Court system.

Template stuff. They're well on their way.

I so hope that old mac gets this one right.

Yeah, we saw this coming a mile away.

The plan is to gain control of Justice, State, the Press, the Courts and the Court system.

Template stuff. They're well on their way. The world has seen it before.

Europe is screaming now, trying to warn us.

You mean gain BACK control of Justice and State. the others are just partisan opposition he has to deal with.

Europe is too busy banning anyone to the right of Karl Liebknecht from running for office, even when the voters give their parties large voting percentages.

Or jailing a mom for 2 years over a tweet.

Not really, but wresting control of Justice from the Democrats WOULD be a good plan.

Mac can't see it - but it really should be the plan.

Justice - Yes Democrats should probably not use it against their political or social enemies, while ignoring actual crime

State Department - Democrats should probably not use it to go against the will of the duly elected President.
Somehow, they have been conditioned to believe that they are in charge of the country's interests,
(see President Trump's first term)

The Press - The Democrat Media (which constituted 100% of the media before Rush and the internet)
should probably not be able to unilaterally control the narrative, especially when paid for by Public Taxpayers.

The Courts - Democrats probably should not be allowed to overturn, again the will of the people, through activist judges. Virtually every victory by the left in my lifetime has come through Judicial Rulings not in line with the majority.

All more reason for more and more laborers unionizing.
All the more reason for Democrats to stop supporting illegals and fighting for the right of welfare people to buy candy with our money,

You really know how to miss the point, DON’T you?

A poor person buying candy bothers me not whatsoever. Why do you dislike the poor so much?

I like them fine. That’s why I DON’T want to pay for their unhealthy snacks.

Why do YOU dislike the poor so much that you insist people with better dietary habits buy them unhealthy food?

He has one point -
always

The workers should be in charge and make all the money
there should be no incentives for investment, or risk taking.

Basically, Communist/Socialist worker's party.

True. And he hates business owners. He fails to realize that without business owners, there would be no jobs - other than those who work for Government. It’s probably what he wants - everyone beholden to The State.

Any lawyer working for this DoJ who complains about being sent in front of a judge to be confrontational and or dishonest on behalf of the regime is being disingenuous. It's what they signed up for.
and like the lawyer fired because he admitted that the Trump Admin acted in error in the Garcia case… even a modicum of honesty and competence will be punished.

This guy is lucky HE isn’t being sent to that prison in El Salvador

Before you scoff at that, Trump has been musing about being able to send AMERICAN CITIZENS to that Hell hole

Never saw him say that or anything like that.

I HAVE seen you lie constantly
