Because the founding of this country is an act of treason itself.

The Declaration of Independence and Constitution are acts of treason.

And now you want to call someone a traitor for giving power to the people, which what this nation was founded for in the first place?

This is not for just the Obama Admin, but this is for all politicians. Get your shit together.

Also, get involved in politics, people!
All of us are at fault for not making our elected officials work for us.

We don't enforce laws like building the fence. Treason is no different or Obama would of been sent out on a rail a long time ago.

Treason is the one crime defined in the Constitution. If you want it to go away, you need an amendment.

Personally, I believe that Treason is a crime. I believe that this Incident does not qualify as Treason. There is a reason that there is a high bar here. One must wonder, living in a time, when Companies, People, can be prosecuted for not lying to us when instructed by the Government, to do so, where are we headed? How is justice served here, or is it that justice is what the government says it is, in the moment? 2+2=5 for as long as the court says it does? What does that remind me of? .... Oh shit. ;)

Treason is a crime and has been since George Washington said "put none but Americans on watch". Now the issue is in defining treason. Is it actions hostile to the nation, or hostile to obama?

Of the 16 people convicted of treason in our history only 8 were executed, 4 in connection to the Lincoln assasination, and 2 for the John Brown anti-slavery rebellion. 7 of the 8 were executed between 1859 and 1865 and the 8th in 1942.

Philip Vigol and John Mitchell, convicted of treason and sentenced to hanging; pardoned by George Washington; see Whiskey Rebellion.
Governor Thomas Dorr 1844, convicted of treason against the state of Rhode Island; see Dorr Rebellion; released in 1845; civil rights restored in 1851; verdict annulled in 1854.
John Brown, convicted of treason against the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1859 and executed for attempting to organize armed resistance to slavery.
Aaron Dwight Stevens, took part in John Brown's raid and was executed in 1860 for treason against Virginia.
William Bruce Mumford, convicted of treason and hanged in 1862 for tearing down a United States flag during the American Civil War.
Mary Surratt, Lewis Powell, David Herold, and George Atzerodt, all convicted by military tribunal and hanged on July 7, 1865 for treason and conspiracy related to the Lincoln assassination.
Iva Toguri D'Aquino, who is frequently identified with "Tokyo Rose" convicted 1949. Subsequently pardoned by President Gerald Ford.
Herbert Hans Haupt, German-born naturalized U.S. citizen, was convicted of treason in 1942 and executed after being named as a German spy by fellow German spies defecting to the United States.
Martin James Monti, United States Army Air Forces pilot, convicted of treason for defecting to the Waffen SS in 1944.
Robert Henry Best, convicted of treason on April 16, 1948 and served a life sentence.
Mildred Gillars, also known as "Axis Sally", convicted of treason on March 8, 1949; served 12 years of a 10- to 30-year prison sentence.
Tomoya Kawakita, sentenced to death for treason in 1952, but eventually released by President John F. Kennedy to be deported to Japan.

No. That is not the issue and has never been the issue. No one has been charged with treason, just a bunch of people who have no authority in the matter tossing the word around.

BTW, treason is a crime against the people (as a country), not against the government.

When King George III was impressing Americans into service in the British Navy, levying taxes without representation, taking away people's guns who had committed no crime etc., in fact he was committing treason. The Declaration of Independence was simply a way of making him stop.

Don't make the mistake of thinking treason is a crime against government. Government officials themselves can commit treason, right up to the very top.

That is true.

Because those who toss the word around never really wanted to know the extent of government spying. They would prefer to think that the United States really didn't have a Stasi.

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." That is the only definition of treason which applies to the United States. Essentially, you have to join the other side in a declared war. I don't think it is even possible to commit treason today since we officially don't have any enemies.

They were acts of Treason against the British Empire, which because the Rebels won was rendered Moot by the treaty that ended the revolution.

Treason is only Treason if you lose.

Oh please. The US has spies. We have always had spies. Anyone who thought we didn't have spies was living with their head under a blanket. Nothing that has been presented in the last few weeks is even vaguely new.
