They also felt the need to define sovereign borders, create a national defense, and restrict Liberty in several ways.
They were meticulous about how they approached the restrictions on Liberty, and who they granted the power to do so.
Where they were certainly not Communists or Socialist, they did not share the downfalls Libertarians will always suffer.

The reason the Libertarians will never establish themselves as a serious National Party ...
Is because they cannot agree with each other on the details of the Liberties that must be limited in order to ever successfully govern in the first place.

Liberty is pretty well defined. Libertarians may not agree on everything just like Communists and Socialists don't agree on everything. That is human nature. Hell, you can't even get two Democrats or two Republicans to agree on everything.

For instance, there was a time when a Libertairan would tell you that were for abortion and open borders. However, not many now would embrace child murder and the importation of poverty from other countries.

However, there are root tenets. If you institutionalize telling me how to run my life and then take the money that I earned and give it to somebody else then that sure as hell ain't Liberty. Most Libertarians would agree on that.

The Founding Fathers had most things right. Like only allowing land owning Christian White men to vote. This would be a much better country if we would embrace their values.
